Dole Whip Outside of Disneyland? Oh Yes!

As with many of you, one of the things I look forward to most when going to Disneyland is the dole whip. Love it. Can't get enough of it. But it kills me that it takes so long to get into Disneyland if that's all I came for.

    Not anymore!

I was at the Buena Park mall earlier today and stopped by this new frozen yogurt place, Berrysweet. It's self-serve, 38c per quart and they sell DOLE WHIP! I couldn't believe it when I saw it. I didn't think there was anywhere outside of Disneyland that had it. And now it's just a 2 minute drive away

Yup, it's actually called Dole Whip.

Tastes exactly the same. Next time I'm gonna bring my own Dole Pineapple juice with me for a Dole Whip float

    Nice find!

There seems to be a renewed interest in frozen yogurt shops.

They were very popular about 20 years ago, then they all but disappeared.

It's good to see them come back!

Is "Dole Whip" a protected name???

    Ooops I was just corrected.

It's just called Dole Pineapple. Not Dole Whip. But I still think it's the same thing.

I believe the only establishments that you can purchase official dole whips from are the disney parks and the actual dole pineapple plantation in Hawaii (which I've been to, by the way). It is possible, though, to order a bag of official dole whip mix and have it delivered straight to your doorstep from Hawaii.

Here's a fun little how-to video that explains the whole process step by step:

Wouldn't it be great to have a dole whip party with a whole bunch of disney geeks far away from the madness of the parks?......I think I know what I'm doing next weekend!

"Dole Whip" is trademarked by the "Dole" Company so it is up to them they release it to other places.
Known in most other circles as "HauntedOne999"

This subject comes up every six months or so... Dole licenses the name and dry mix formulas for Dole Whip to Precision Foods Inc. who makes the mix and sells it to any restaurant or concession or yogurt stand that wants to buy it. With all the sales banners and flyers and menu clip-art and stuff, too.

If you have a restaurant PFI will put you in contact with a local foodservice distributor, and they'll ship or deliver you a case.

A 4.4 pound bag of dry mix makes 2 gallons, 4 bags per case, makes 8 gallons. When you add in the overrun (entrained air) you'll get probably double that. The dry mix stores for a year, the mixed product for a week.

    Lol.

It's at the Buena Park outdoor mall right across the street from Knotts and Soak City. I think Orangethorpe & Stanton are the cross streets.

Luck has little to do with it. "The Google-Fu is strong with this one..." (Half the battle is knowing that the information exists. Then figuring out the right way to look for it.)

IIRC (didn't look) the video that Sir Didymus linked to has contact information for someone who buys the Dole Whip Mix in bulk (4 bags to a case) and ships it to you by the single bag.

But when I checked there was a huge premium for the mix due to the service, so if you can find a local source for a full case you are better off getting the full case. You can use it inside a year.

I think I am one of the few people who didn't like the Dole Whip. Sorry but I think it is great you all like it. Enjoy.
