    SilentDante Tries a Macro Lens - 1/10/09

My brother and sister in law came into town for the past weekend from Chicago, and naturally, we took them to Disneyland. To celebrate, I decided to borrow a friend's 100mm fixed macro lens and see what I could shoot. While I didn't end up shooting a ton of stuff that really required a macro lens, I think I got some pretty cool shots. Quality glass makes a difference!

Waiting for the park to open:

The new floral. I'm not loving it, but not really hating it either:

    At the hub:

It was my first time through the Sleeping Beauty Castle walkthrough. I loved it! It was very nicely done and well detailed, the kind of thing that makes Disney special:

    Pinocchio Village in Storybook Land:

Nemo (which is starting to grow on me. Maybe it's the shorter lines):

    ToonTown details:

I don't know who this kid is, but I enjoyed watching him interact with Goofy:

    More to come, stay tuned....

Wow, you did get some great shots! And it really is amazing the difference that quality components make. Love the richness of the colors you captured.

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter

Great pictures. The one of Pinocchio's village in Storybookland makes me realize just how much detail there is. I'll have to look more closely next time I ride.

Wow, great photos! Love the pic of Goofy and the boy, just too cute... has that Disney marketing quality about it. Looking forward to seeing the rest for your pictures.

Okay, I'm finally back. I was hoping to be able to get this post on to a second page so it wouldn't take forever to load, but I guess that won't be happening. Sorry to everyone with slow connections!

Now, then...After Toon Town, we decided to head to DCA. On the way, I took a couple shots of the Alice exterior:

And one of the Main Street Indian:

    Into DCA:

    And the Tower of Terror:

    I love the Muppets!

Not sure I've noticed Pie Eye versions of characters other than Mickey. Looks a little strange to me:

    Obligatory Paradise Pier Constructions Shots:

And deciding to test out the nighttime capability of my borrowed lens:

"And one day, Mickey, I hope they build a big park right over there. One that will make people realize just how nice they've had it over here."

And that'll pretty much do it. If anyone is interested in seeing the full set, you can check them out at my Flickr page. And now, to steal a bit from a more prolific poster than I, this is..

    THE END!

Cool stuff! Gotta be really careful with focus when you're shooting telephoto like this, though. It's a lot easier to tell when something's a bit out of focus. Also, some of the shots are quite dark, and the composition of a couple of 'em just doesn't quite do it for me. But...like I said, cool stuff. Thanks for posting!
