The Return of Big Thunder Barbeque (Merged Threads)

I was so happy to hear today that Big Thunder Barbeque was returning for the celebration promotion. What would you like to see from the returning Barbeque location? I was definitely a fan of the barbeque beef sandwich with hot steamed bread. It came with beans and corn on a cob. I definitely hope they bring back the previous quality this location used to have. When the food was transplanted to the riverbelle terrace it never tasted the same and the portions were reduced heavily with a large price markup.

It was a long time ago but as I recall it was like 5 dollars for an amazing meal.

Good news! We always enjoyed eating there. Restful, somehow, when your feet are killing you.

Yeah, it had great food and at reasonable prices.

With the other places charging what they charge today, it's hard to imagine that the new BBQ will be a "value" place to eat though.

Either way, we'll be eating there!

Is it a bbq buffet? Or counter-service style?

    Barbeque ribs would be great!

With mashed potatoes, corn on the cob and a slice of corn bread.... Maybe with some cole slaw!

You would wait in a line and the kitchens were themed wagons you would wait cafateria style. At the end there was a barn where they made the ribs and chicken right in front of you. It was so delicious when it was made there. You would eat on wooden bench style tables with the dirt floor so it was felt really authentic. Disneyland really needs to step up the quality of their food and I think this is a way to do it. There was usually a 30-40 minute wait so if Disney makes the right decision and restores this location properly it will become just as popular again. While their at it they should bring back tehitian terrace.

Perhaps the problem was that it was too far out of the way? The "out of sight, out of mind" issue? Is is just kind of tucked away behind Fantasyland/Frontierland.
