I guess I was late! I wasn't sure about the confirmation of this so I didn't want to post anything I wasn't sure about. I am also new to Mice Chat so I was just getting adjusted. Now I am wondering what is going to happen to it!

Spare parts. Maybe they'll use it as a blueprint of windows that work.

Is it really that sad of news? Like if they discontinued the use of one of the Jungle Cruise boats, would anybody but Techskip be upset? haha

I'm surprised it wasn't retired earlier. Mk5 Purple had been breaking down almost on a daily basis. At least the MK7 Red, which can go at least a day or two without having to be towed

I kind of think it is sad news...its the end of the Mark V. It was a sleek, hot looking monorail that gave a heck of a lot of service - a good percentage of the 50 years the attraction has been online. It's sad it seems to have been quietly retired with no commemoration...

I don't know if I'd call it sleak. A lot of folks didn't like the '80's look of them. Many have commented that it's a look better suited to WDW, and not DLP. The MkVII trains, though, are definitely a DLP perfect fit, at lest visually.

Excellent comment about the "good percentage". The MkI/II ran for 10 years; the MkIII ran for 18 years; the MkV's ran for 21 years.

The Mark VII series will be a fleet of 3: Red, Blue, and Orange. Red and Blue are currently running; Orange is onsite, but is awaiting new parts to replace those that were taken to retrofit Red during its initial testing phase (CM guestimates are late spring-ish/early summer-ish before it comes online).

The four Mk5 trains were probably a bit overkill. The track is so short, and the beam power capacity so limited, that running all four trains is a nightmare. In most cases, two trains running is adequate (that puts the wait time between trains at less than 10 mins). Three trains would be able to handle the heaviest days. Remember, it's only a 3 minute ride from the TL station to the DD station.

It's been rumored that they 'could' order a 4th train (presumably purple) in the future if needed, but there just doesn't seem to be a need for 4 trains at present.

Blue sometimes looks purple and red sometimes looks orange.
It would have been nice for more distinct colors.
