    Photopass?

Does Disneyland have Photopass like WDW? If so, how much is it?

Actually, no, Disneyland's photopass CD is somewhat cheaper than Disney World's is. I went to BOTH parks last year, and I paid around a hundred for WDW, but only 60 for DL.

Photopass is a very handy service.

We've noticed that recently their photographers have been wanting the kids to "ham it up" in a few of the shots. They are taking more shots per scene than they used to.

Once you view your pictures, I noticed on the site that you can pay to download them as a .jpg file. How much does that run exactly?

    WAYYYYYYYY too much.

I love the photopass service, but the prices are absolutely ridiculous, like beyond normal "ok we're disney so we can overcharge" ridiculous. 14.95 EACH.

Can you really end up with 500 images?? I've read in books that you can end up with that many. I really want to use it, but I am not convinced that the photographers are that abundant. Are they? I mean I'd love to get pics of my whole family not just hubby and the kids.

    Re: Photopass?

There are photographers in a lot of key areas, in Town Square, at the Castle, In New Orleans (sometimes in front of the Haunted Mansion) and of course they sometimes have them stationed with the characters and shows (like Jedi Academy).

Just a word of caution though, the prices are EXTREMELY expensive for what they are (15 bucks for a JPG file?) and the kids that are taking the pictures, while using professional equipment, are not the best photographers in the world. I've seen them taking pictures into direct sunlight and some of my own pictures from them came washed out and completely unusable.

Sometimes it seems like it would be far cheaper and more efficient to just ask a random stranger to take your picture with a generic point and shoot.

$15 for a .jpg picture??? Ouch!!! What a rip!!! Any tricks of the trade for when you view photos or anything else I might need to know that the website doesn't explain too well?

    Re: Photopass?

I was at Disneyland in December for 5 days, and I ended up with about 100 photos on my Photopass card. The sign said that the Photo CD was $59. I thought that was a good deal. I ended up with a 20% off coupon, so I paid a lot less. I had the CD made in the park. It didn't take long, and I am able to do whatever I want with those pictures. I thought that was a good deal.

Also keep in mind that the Photopass photographers are more than willing to also take a photo with your camera. You just need to ask them. Now even if you don't purchase any Photopass pictures, you are able to be in a lot of pictures that perhaps in the past you wouldn't. I think that it is a great service.
