An Outlandish First Trip Pic Report

I finally decided I would see what this Trip Report thing was all about. Forgetting that the fireworks were not returning until Saturday, we planned to brave the Holiday/Convention/Weekend crowds. Much to our surprise, it was one of the slowest Disneyland days we'd ever experienced! And considering it was after noon I was pleasantly shocked.

The hand car is still missing...

The new Main Street Decor... very bright if I do say so myself.

When we arrived, the characters were out in full force. We saw at least 6 in the first 5 minutes, including several less common ones.

We then took a nice quiet trip around the rivers of America. As a disclaimer, we usually try to hit everything in both parks, but the day's crowds didn't seem to merit any hurrying really. So we decided to take it easy.

more to come...

Re: An Outlandish First Trip Pic Report

After The Mark Twain we made our way over to Pirates and Indy (which actually was open for once.) Then we somehow meandered back to Big Thunder, which was the longest line we waited in all day, and it only went to the Bridge where the track crosses over the queue.

From there we trekked over to Tomorrowland and paid a visit to Tom Morrow for my friend's first (and, according to her, last) time, followed up quickly by a voyage to Endor, sitting right behind Captain Rex.

In keeping with the randomness of the day, we ended up back in Adventureland for my first climb in Tarzan's treehouse, which I discovered does have its uses. Here are the results:

Some work is being done on the old Pirate's queue.

The rooftops above Pirate's.

Talk about breaking and entering...

Managed to get Tarzan in the mirror.

New Orleans Square seemed to draw us, as we ended up there most of the day, watching the Fantasmic! Techies, and eating to the music of Queenie and the Royal Street Bachelors.

After one of the best and most relaxing meals I've had at the park, we recommenced wandering and ended up at Pixie Hollow which I thought was closed, but there were quite a few people inside. We found out I was right when we were verbally berated by an irate CM.

The Tomorrowland Terrace was our next stop for the performance of Instant Replay. As with the rest of the day, it was our first time hearing them, and it certainly won't be my last!

We then made the scramble over to New Orleans to grab a seat for the second showing of Fantasmic! Which was phenomenal as usual. After a last ride on Pirates, (sitting back to back in the last row really adds to the intensity of that drop!) we headed home after a great and relaxing trip! Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!

Re: An Outlandish First Trip Pic Report

That was a really nice TR. I'm guessing that maybe so many characters were out because it is a holiday weekend. When I go in the middle of the week it is just the usual like Mickey, Minnie, Goofy.

Re: An Outlandish First Trip Pic Report

Wow, your pictures are so clear it shows how lame those plastic looking figures are in Tarzan's Treehouse.

Thanks everyone! Yeah I never go in Tarzan's Treehouse, and now I know I was right. But there were some beautiful views from up there!

Outlander - Great job on your first trip report! Thanks for those beautiful shots. The treehouse is one of my favorite spots to shoot from, and it's especially nice in the late afternoon when you were shooting.

I'm looking forward to your next report!

And considering the onslaught that was supposed to be there today with the NAMM convention, it's shocking that the crowds were light. I wonder if it's the economy. Hmmm.....
