"“What will you celebrate?” brings new entertainment to Disneyland
January 21st, 2009, 9:42 am posted by Sally French
Last week, we reported that Disneyland cut numerous entertainment options at the Disneyland Resort, including Walt Disney’s Parade of Dreams and the Princess Fantasy Faire Coronation Ceremony.
Never fear, because Disney has plans for a whole new batch of productions in conjunction with the new “What will you celebrate?” promotion.
“We are always adjusting our shows,” Disneyland Resort spokesman John McClintock said. “Of course we’re getting back into ‘celebrate’ with a new street show at the end of March and a show at the Big Thunder Ranch in Spring.”
In the “Celebrate Today!” street show, “music floods the streets, dancing kicks into high gear and the parks become the ‘happiest party on Earth’,” Disney stated in a press release.
The street show will have 7 units, 90 performers including stilt walkers and a whole series of musical numbers involving swing dancing, rock ‘n’ roll tunes and conga lines. Similar to the parade of dreams, it will stop at the Small World Mall, Main Street, U.S.A. and possibly another location.
The Celebrate Street Party opens on March 27th and will run daily.
“Big Thunder Ranch is once again going to become a barbecue location and a show. It’s sort of a country western show with characters,” McClintock said.
The ranch closed in 2001 after the opening of Rancho del Zocalo.
Are there any plans for bringing back the old parades and shows?
“They are retired, for at least a while,” McClintock said."
Has anyone heard about the return of BTR? Or the new show?
Sounds promising and exciting!
