Buzz Lightyear in Bedtime Stories

Not much has been written here on Micechat about The Walt Disney Company's greatest film since Mary Poppins... That's right, Bedtime Stories.

For those of you that have seen this movie, Buzz Lightyear made a cameo appearance during the last story of the movie, which took place in outer space. It was really quick. Hopefully some of you noticed that.

This got me to thinking. Is the Buzz Lightyear costume that they used in the movie the exact same costume used in parades and/or meet and greets at the DLR? It sure looks like the same costume. And I am sure that the cost of manufacturing this costume was way too high to justify using it to shoot a 2 second scene, while they had a ready made costume just 40 miles south on I-5.

So do you think this is the same costume? If it is the same costume, is the star who portrayed Buzz in the movie the same CM who is the Buzz character at Disneyland?

And does anyone know perhaps if other Disneyland "props" or artifacts have been used in any movies? I don't mean props that were in movies that are now in Disneyland but the other way around -- something borrowed from Disneyland that was put into a movie.

Re: Buzz Lightyear in Bedtime Stories

It's not a physical prop, seeing as it is in a computer animated film, but a old Tomorrowland poster appears in Monsters, Inc unless I am remembering horribly incorrectly.

I know what you are talking about DIP- I remember that scene. I never thought about it as a marketing ploy, but it does look like it is the same costume they use in the Disney parks. However, I think they use an extra and not someone from the park.

I wouldn't say it's a marketing ploy. But I think it's intersting how they possibly used the actual costume from DL rather than making one specifically for the movie.

There was the "Space Mountain" Building in "Meet The Robinsons" and the word play of "Tomorrowland:" "Todayland."

It could be the same. I dont think it would have been a CM in the costume, but I remeber the scene, and I thought that it was the same ugly costume they use at DL! I never liked the costume.

Re: Buzz Lightyear in Bedtime Stories

We saw the movie and we noticed Buzz.

Since it was a Disney movie, we weren't too surprised.

Sandler's personal bulldog had more airtime though...

Re: Buzz Lightyear in Bedtime Stories

Interesting, I haven't seen the movie yet but my sister said I would probably really like it. I have someone I can ask about the costume who might know more. I'll see what I can find out, may take some time though.
