My first 2009 trip to Disneyland Resort

Ken and I had many things to celebrate this past weekend so we headed to Disneyland on Friday the 23rd. We had reserved a standard view room at the Paradise Pier for Friday night. But when we got there , we got upgraded to a two bedroom suite with a theme park view without even asking. (Thank you CM Brian!) The room was fabulous as was the view and there was a gorgeous sunset that night.

Two of our favorite Micechatters were also in town that weekend so we met up with them in the lobby and then went to dinner at Yamabuki:

Mmmm, sashimi

MMM, tempura (no, it didn' come that way, I just like to make weird food arrangements)

Hot sake for hottie Ken

After dinner , we walked around Downtown Disney for a while and then went back to the hotel and went to bed as we were planning to get up for early admission into the park on Saturday morning.

We got there in time for rope drop. The crowds were very light and there was no wait for any of the rides. It may be because it was raining.

Here's me and Earkid in line for Dumbo lol

And me and Earkid on Dumbo lol

We went on about 10 rides total I think and then Ken and I headed back to the PPH to pack up , check out and go pick up our daughters at the Long Beach airport. They were flying into town to celebrate their 21st birthday.

The hotel they had chosen to spend the night at was the Grand Californian and they had balloons, birthday buttons, and autographed pictures of Mickey waiting for them.

Awww, nothing like a nice comfy bed at DL

We met back up with Goofy Golfer and Earkid to eat lunch at Whitewaters and then headed into DCA.

One of our firt stops was Soarin. No those are not moobs on Goofy Goofy Golfer! Tiffany and Goofy Golfer had not finished their large sodas yet so we had to put them somewhere. lol

Midway Mania is one of our favorite rides, although the wait in line can drive some people a little crazy

We spent a long time hanging out in the Animation Building after that as it's one of our favorite places in DCA.

We had a fun time drawing Pluto. Here's mine and Courtney's drawings:

Pluto really is in my picture. See, here's a close up:

Once we were done in the Animation Building, we headed back to our hotel room to get ready for dinner.

Your picture of Goofy is great! At first I thought you decided to go rouge in the drawing class... but the last picture cleared that up. Great pictures!

Disney really does a good job at making you feel special with those hotel room upgrades. Fantastic view... there's something about DCA at night that is simply enchanting.

Re: My first 2009 trip to Disneyland Resort

When we were in our room, we got a phone call from another of our favorite Micechatters, Disney 1978, so we invited her up. Here we are Micechatting from the GC.

We would never wear these shoes for walking around the parks, but they were fine for just walking down to the Storytellers:

We didn't have to wait too long for our table:

After we'd been sitting at our table for a few minutes, Ken noticed this little guy sitting all by his lonesome on the ledge. Tiffany dubbed him "Toastie"

These two do not look 21 at all. Most people think they're about 15 and they have to show their ID's all the time to prove that they're older.

After Storyteller's , we met up with two more Micechatters, Hollywood and Luvslilo and went into DCA to do Miday Mania again. Then we headed into DL and went on a few rides there and walked Fantasmic from a really close up location. That was awesome!

On Sunday morning, Courtney and Brittany and I went to Sephora at 8:30 am for the special deal they offer to DLR hotel guests. For $35 you get a makeover, but then you also get a $35 gift card to use in the store. There were only 5 other guests there and it was a lot of fun being able to browse through the store with only that many people .

Here's what Brittany and Courtney looked like after their makeovers:

We thank Sal who is a great makeover artist.

Sephora took up most of our morning so sadly we weren't able to make it to the noon meet. But we'll be seeing everyone this weekend! : )

The last thing we did before leaving the resort was have lunch at the Rainforest Cafe with Goofy Golfer and Earkid. They had never been there before so we told them about the gorillas and elephants that make a LOT of noise. Earkid said "OH great, now that you've told me about them , we' ll probably get seated next to them. " Sure enough , she was right! And here's the expression on her face when the elephants started doing their thing! LOL

Ooooh, glowy drinks

Courtney's cheesestick wasn't quite heated enough so when she took a bite it came out like this:

Great times with great friends:

And our daughters

We feel blessed! : )

Great TR! Love the pic of you and Earkid on Dumbo.

Uh huh... so, have you gone that one day without facebook yet?

PB thank you again for letting me apart of your family for that night. It makes me remember why I love Micechat so much.

Thanks Nursemelis.

For Disneyland Hotel guests, your makeoevers are done on Saturday mornings. You may want to call now to make a reservation since they have a maximum of 9 guests.

Re: My first 2009 trip to Disneyland Resort

Great to see you and the gang, PB. I'll look forward to at least a quick hello and hug this weekend (I suspect that you will be mobbed by your many fans here).

And you know that whenever you're headed back this way, there's an open invite for Joe's Crab Shack or any of our other fine local eateries in the Ventura/Santa Barbara area...
