IASW doesn't need another overlay. If anything a Space Mountain overlay like Ghost Galaxy would be very cool

Small World has Walt written all over it, and IMO it's as much the classic as Tiki, POTC and HM (and a plethora of others for that matter).

I guess that's what it comes down to though....personal opinion. I just find it surprising that so many put it down. I think it's cool if it's not the attraction of choice for some, or one that some people don't always ride, but when people put it down I find that intriguing.

Now this is not to say y'all have to love it. But I think someone here said it well when they noted that it might not be their favorite, but they appreciate it for what it is.

I'm still sort of a big kid because it still makes me smile. I dig the memories and the innocence of it.
Status as a classic doesn't exempt an attraction from criticism. Walt and his Imagineers weren't infallible. I greatly appreciate the message they were trying to convey with IASW, and I think Mary Blair's style is charming in a 60's sort of way, but when it comes right down to it, I don't enjoy the attraction. My attention is drawn to all the backstage elements that are uncomfortably visible, and the dolls themselves freak me out. I prefer immersive environments over ones that make no attempt at seeming like anything other than moving displays. As you said, it's personal preference, and I wouldn't dream of putting anyone down or thinking less of them simply because they enjoy the attraction. I'm happy for them!

    Love the song, Quacky4Donald.

I can definately see the scary element. Maybe if the dolls could also inch slowly towards the boats...

That's my feelings on HM! I hate having it down just so we can put HMH up and down...

Though, I've often been on IASM and thought about a Halloween overlay. I mean could you just imagine it being a dark ride, and they put little glowing red eyes on all the dolls? EEK!

As Data pointed out I don't appreciate this ride due to the fact that it looks horrible. Everywhere you look its a mess. After all the years why can't Disney do something about the nasty visible ceiling, the wires, the floor, even the sets where the dolls are standing on, etc, etc. Everything looks cheap as hell compared to Pirates & Mansion if your going to make the comparison.

What do you purpose to fix it? I mean honestly it almost seems like the ride was MEANT to be that way. Pirates and Mansion are suppose to repersent a specific place, while IASW has no specific place.

I'm not an Imagineer so I don't know. I would think they can come up with something to make it not look like such a bad show. You're telling me they can't figure something out to hide the overly visible (in some cases stained) ceeling?

When I made the comparison between Mansion & Pirates it was for the quality of the ride (not cheap looking). Perhaps people like the bare open look of the ride?

Walt and his Imagineers weren't infallible. Agreed. I don't see IASW as one of those mistakes though. That's cool. And you don't seem like the type to put it down. You just don't like it. No harm. No foul. Personally I don't care for Indy or Star Tours because they're not based on Disney movies. They're amazingly imaginative attractions, but they leave me with a sense of disconnect. I know I'm in the strict minority on this one. My attention is drawn to all the backstage elements that are uncomfortably visible, and the dolls themselves freak me out. I was more addressing the put down of the attraction (and the put down of the "song" that frequently goes along with the feelings about the attraction) itself. I'm comfortable enough with myself to admit I think it's a great attraction regardless of what people might think of me because I do.

I think they tried that in Florida, but it kinda failed. By having the water go right up to the set pieces it makes the ride too dark.

I think it would be cool, but the original version is already not around much as it is.

I think of DCA as the more "adult" park and able to have a more "Knott's type" layover.

How about Monsters Inc. becomes REALLY scary.

The Animation Loop shows all the villains stuff.

Killer Grizzlies on the loose on Grizzly.

Screamin' Backwards (okay, that may not work so well) Maybe Screamin', Mullholland Madness, Maliboomer and Tower "In the Dark".

Thanks. I was going to go a completely different route with it, but I didn't want to get banned from MiceChat or have the thread thrown into the Litter Box.

Yeah I think something along the lines of a breakdown with the sound off and no music with just the dolls moving would classify as a Halloween make over.
