Lilly Belle ride (Yes You Can)

The boys were fortunate enough to get a Tender ride earlier this month.
I thought that it was YOAMD all over again, because we didn't have any luck winning anything last year.
While on the Tender ride, they found out that if you ask a conductor, and they have enough cast members on station, you can get a ride in the Lilly Belle.

So Friday, my eight year old, went up to a conductor and asked if we could ride on the Lilly Belle.
He was kind enough to say yes, but he had already promised a family of three a ride.
So, he asked the other guests if it was alright if another family rode.
Had they said no, I'm sure that they could have gotten their own private tour, but the other guest was polite enough to allow us to ride.

The first thing that the conductor did was to give us these great souvenir tickets.


After we boarded the train, he punched our tickets with a cleverly designed hole punch.
Earlier we had left the park for lunch, and I forgot the camera in the truck, so all that I had was my lousy stinkin' Camera phone.

Our Conductor was fantastic, he told the boys a lot about the history of the parlor car, and listened to their stories and questions.
He showed us the Hidden Mickeys in the carpet.


The Conductor turned on the fans because it was quite warm, and he showed us how the lights worked.


I hope that they continue allowing regular folk to ride.
It was really a wonderful experience.

When we were there a couple weeks ago, we couldn't ride because there wasn't enough conducters (since one has to escort you). So thanks for sharing. We were told the weekends were the best time to ask! Can't wait to try again.

riding in the lilly belle is a very magical experience, dustin and i had such a lovely time when we got to a couple of xmas' ago.

It was at first, but they started letting folks ride it on an as requested basis quite some time ago.

You can either go to City Hall and request the "boarding tickets" or just go right to the Main St station and ask a conductor.

Of course it helps if you are celebrating a special occassion, but we've seen folks get on just because they asked (and they had a conductor available).

I love riding the Lilly Belle. It's so easy to get on and people don't realize to just ask and there's a good chance they will say YES!

One of my favorite memories of my mini-moon was riding the lily belle! Gorgeous! We didn't get tickets though

Hmm... still never had the opportunity to ride in the Lily Belle. Who knows, maybe this is the year!

The Lilly Belle is a car, attached (usually) to the "Holiday Blue" train (the one with blue-striped awnings). Any locomotive can pull it, so you will just have to wait and see which engine she's tied to.

Just remember that you can only board and disembark the Lilly Belle at the Main St. station. It is a full-circle trip. No getting on or off at the other stops.
