That cut in the wall has been there for a about a week, although it looks like its been widened recently.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker III

Is the bay here considerably deeper than the Rivers of America?

They're painting the railings in the Fun Wheel queue red right now. Apparently the dark green was either a primer or WDI just changed their mind. Of course this red could also be a primer...

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker III

Ok, so the entrance is going to be built 1 side at a time....My question is regarding the 'timing' of moving back the entrance turnstiles. With one side at a time being built, do they plan on moving the turnstiles first???

It doesn't make sense to me to have the new buildings built, then move back the turnstiles. Anyone have any info on this???

I'm willing to bet they will do half the turnstiles and street at the same time, then open up that new set of turnstiles and side of the street and close the other half.

But doesn't having only 1/2 the turnstiles accommodating wheelchairs/strollers/entrance/exit seem a little unplausible?? At least for TDA???

Well, from what Al said, doing the whole entrance and trying to get people in and out through the HPB or CF areas is even more difficult. They are really worried that moving the main entrance will confuse the heck out of people so they'll leave the entrance to the park where it is and just have to make due with half of it being open for the duration of construction. They would be cutting way back on the number of turnstiles anyway if they did the entrance through HPB or CF because there simply isn't the room in either location to keep ALL the turnstiles.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker III

They should think about still adding in one of the side turnstiles they had planned, to go along with half of the main gates which should help with the flow.

I for one however will be using the Grand Californian Route, I don't want to go through those gates when TLM opens.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker III

Having two separate entrances could cause problems in emergency situations as well as confusion for guests... I don't think they'll even try that one.

They'll do this just like any major freeway project, one half at a time.

True but Major Free way projects also provide detours or post signs recommending using another route. Disney could do the same no?

It looks like the graphics on the model of the Games of the Boardwalk match up almost exactly to what's being painted on the actual building right now.

I'm not referring to the HPB or CF entrances at all. Those are canceled and have become moot. Now the plans have WDI building the entrance area one half at a time. Wouldn't it make sense to build the entrance gates at once? To me it would make sense to wall off around the current CALIFORNIA letters and build the turnstiles, then start work on Buena Vista Street.

Only in a city area. Freeway projects out in the countryside usually just close down 10 miles of the east bound side and make half of the west bound lanes the "new" east bound while they redo the closed section, they they reverse the process. There are no alternative routes or detours since there aren't any cities with roads nearby. Same thing in canyons. They simply divert all the traffic from one direction onto the other side of the freeway.

This is what will happen with DCA's entrance makeover.
