Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker III

Goofy's Sky School is extremely temporary due to my understanding. I've read in places that it will be replaced by a new E-Ticket sometime after the overhaul, and I've heard the same for Redwood Creek challenge trail.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker III

Phase 2 is completely dependent upon the success of phase 1 and is not a done deal.

I think upgrading The Route 66 area should have been a focus of phase 1.

I personally would have rather seen an expansion of The Wharf area into the remainder of the farmland and then out into the Timon lot, coupled with a complete makeover and upgrade to Route 66, than Carsland.

There are so many cool ideas that could be turned into attractions for the wharf.

The rumored Incredibles attraction, Crush's coaster and a nice little permanent theater for Turtle Talk could have made for a realy nice land.

The possibilities for Route 66 are endless.

San Francisco expansion would have been pretty cool.

They could have expanded Hollywood and created a new walkway to connect hollywood and the expanded Wharf.

Then, there would be enough room left for quite a large expansion into Timon for Phase 2.

Don't get me wrong, I am very excited about RSR, but I am not excited about anything else in Carsland.

^I have the same thoughts as you. once it's done, I'll be making a beeline straight to RSR. Sure, it'll be interesting to see the new additions, but i'm not particularly excited. What they should really do, as you said, is expand the wharf area somehow, or improve that area around MM and Jumping Jellyfish, because that area is the worst area in the park in my opinion. it really makes no sense. but who cares, there's the Pixar characters rolling by on a float!!

Once the Biergarten is complete, finish the job. Complete the Victorian theme all the way to TLM. With a new e-ticket in MM's spot, it would be perfect!

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker III

I personally think the wharf is just the right size. There is room for a small expansion but I don't want a large area themed to a wharf. I think a small haunted canary, or walk through attraction would be a neat addition but anything else, like an elaborate, dark ride seems to be a bit much. Yes, I wish they would expand it but not by much.

About Carsland, RSR will have the same exact affect as every other E-Ticket. People will run straight to it and ride it. After they have ridden, then they will exit the attraction and really embrace the atmosphere. Lets call it like it is, when TSMM first opened up, people walked as fast as they could ignoring most all the detail they passed. My point is, I think Carsland will be a really cool and emersive atmosphere if the Imagineers do it right. We will just have to wait and see.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker III

I think the way they have planned the north edge of the bay is really quite ingenious. I agree that it would be nice if they could fully build that area out now, but they have what seems to be a good plan. It seems pretty obvious that they've given themselves a lot of flexibility for the future. The new TLM facade and the Grand Cali DVC wing have both a bit of a bay area feel as well as a PP feel. Those buildings should fit in pretty well no matter what direction they take next and serve as a good transition area. I think eventually they pretty clearly are going to expand the SF influence around that area of the park, and they have left themselves with a lot of flexibility of how to do this with the design of this area.

I think they have three options or a combination of them. First, they could place the new SF land in the whole northern edge of the bay. TLM would shift into this land and basically the whole beer garden area would be added to this as well. Second, they could convert the wharf into a bay area theme. Last they could locate a SF themed area as a corridor that would replace what's left of the farm by doing a little rearranging of Bugs Life queue and the entrance to BL. Quite possibly any of these could be combined to create an even larger SF themed area. Really with a few changes they could still further restructure the borders of the lands and create new more cohesive and well themed lands quite easily and they should flow together much better than the park does now.

Si. The Mattercam is perched upon the kind people and the Howard Johnson hotel and gives live video footage from your chosen vantage point of either parks.

Welcome to Mice Chat. There's the Mattercam operated by Hojo Anaheim that can see some of the high stuff but since the construction apparently has been so popular to watch you can no longer control it so to see anything you just have to get lucky. Another good resource for construction pics are MC member Darkbeer's updates on Miceage and his gallery and other trip reports.

Me too! I don't get that either!!!!!!!! That would be a very bad move!!!!!! I'm guessing most of the ppl sayin that r from the bay area or in that part of CA??????? Just a guess.

Temporary is a relative term and can end up lasting decades.

You have nothing to back up your statement. You said that they should have kept the Mullhallond theming because it made more sense and that Goofy's Flite School makes no sense. What is your purposal? What do you think they should do? Demolish it and have an ugly open land sticking out? That sure sounds pleasent. My point is so many members come up with these elaborate flaws in the design but don't say anything about what they should do.

Besides, personally, I like the new architecture that the concept art potrays. It is very classy and fits the rest of the pier nicely.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker III

Who said anything about removing Screamin'? I mean I know there are many people that would love to see it removed, but I don't think that they were saying that the SF area would go where Screamin' is. I definitely think Screamin' should stay.

I grew up in So Cal, haved lived in northern and central Cal, and now am back in LA, and I think the idea of a California themed Disney park not having a beautifully themed SF area (Preferably themed to the era before the great quake) is really pathetic. As has been noted by many, it would make an incredible romantic NOS-like land that has potentially awesome stories it could tell and a central role in the history of the state. DCA really should have a nicely themed Barbary Coast and China Town area these areas could be amazingly charming and interesting if WDI was able to do their best work. Incorporating these ideas is possible within the park still if they do a little clever reworking of some of the areas of the park that will still be relatively empty and possibly changing around the borders of the lands even more. Personnally I think the whole north side of the bay is a mess right now and I love the new Mermaid building but I think it seems like it's still keeping a SF feel so that in the future they can still do more SF theming around that area as I said before and I hope they do.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker III

^I agree a really romantic San Francisco area would be very cool. It is just the idea of it taking over a section of Paradise Pier I don't like. I much rather have it go near the farm area that would flow into the wharf, which flows into the Pier. To me, that seems better at telling a story. I think that if it was layed out like New Orleans square, with a central walkway and then surrounding buildings it would look great. From what I can see, I think that making the parade route walkway a bit smaller and then changing the Bugslife facade into a SF facade and then adding a center building that is surrounded by supporting buildings with a walkway that looks like a garden that leads to Fliks Fun Fair.

well the area needs to have an eating area that would support the crowds once they pick up. The problem is not that it will be an eating location but that it used to be a tacky eating location with an innapropriate layoutcrammed in with a water play area that no one really used.

Well, I've suggested more of that direction myself for a long time, although if I had my way all of the BL stuff would go to really make room for a bigger SF area there. I also wish they wouldn't have put the Mater ride where they apperantly plan to as to give even more room and have it blend into the wharf area better and do some improvments in that area as well.
