![]() | Hey all! I've shared my ideas for Tomorrowland before but I'd just like to put it all in one place. Also know that I'll try to continually update this thread with new stuff to improve it. So please help me to keep this thread alive! ![]() Overall, the mission of an updated TL is to make it seem like a living and thriving community, where people live, work, and play. So, in this case, Tomorrowland is a city in the distant future, set on Earth. Much of it's inspiration would be from the original plans for Epcot before it ended up becoming a theme park. It's outlook on the future will be very positive, but not necessarily a utopia. Architecture and the atmosphere All new building facades and in some cases new buildings are in order. The look will be very clean and obviously futuristic. Lot's of internal projections and curves, very sleek, silver, and cool. Think of apple stores and that metallic and white look, that's kind of what I want to see. In order to make this land feel more friendly, there should be plenty of trees and flower beds, however, the flower beds should be extremely well kept if they are to fit in with the rest of the land's sterile look. Another retro-fit that could happen would be the lands music loop. Don't get me wrong, I love the current one, the musical versions of the classic TL songs and all. But why not update it? If you ever listened to the Wall-E soundtrack, it's really good and pretty futuristic (well duh) but it's not overexagerated and corny like some of the stuff you'll hear now is. So what if we got Thomas Newman( Wall-E composer) to makes some new tracks for a new TL? They could still be adapted from old Tomorrowland songs, but it would have the pleasant and cinematic feel that Thomas newman gave Wall-E. overall, it would be "classier" for the new "classier" Tomorrowland.![]() Attraction replacements and improvements A Rocket Jets restored back to it's place on top of the Peoplemover platform is only natural. So with the Astro Orbitor out of the way, this would be the new weenie for TL. In keeping with the new city theme, it's new look would be like this... ![]() The new Peoplemover would look like the new monorails since the original plans for Epcot called for the a monorail system and a peoplemover system to be the main transportation for the city, so a new peoplemover aught to look something like the monorails, right? Also I realize the problems with an enclosed Peoplemover, but it would have it's own AC units, cracked windows to an extent, and those air scoops they put in on the new monorails. All I ask is that there not be bars on the side, it's a modern transportation system, not a cage, and I most certainly wouldn't want guests to feel like they are. ![]() A Horizons style attraction to replace Innoventions. This would include the complete demolition of the building to make a brand new futuristic one that will hold the Horizons inspired attraction. you board on a moving platform to your ride vehicle to view different places in the future, first comes the city, than the sea and the city under water, and lastly space and the settlements up there, you get to choose your future at the end just like you did on horizons. It would be a huge budget attraction with sophisticated AA's, big, elaborate sets, and some cool references to other tomorrowland attractions, for instance, in the city section you'd see monorails and peoplemovers pass by in the city landscape. In the sea section you'd see the Disneyland subs float by the undersea city. Than of course in space you'd see Space Mountian hovering. The image below is what the outside would look like, kind of a metal igloo. ![]() the peoplemovers would go through those big openings and into the showbuilding to go into the city scene, makes sence right? Also those rims(the thin light colored edges of the openings) would light up with progections of cool animated patterns from inside, since the material used on the exterior would be white tinted glass. It would transition in colors also and the rest of the building would be lit corosponding to the pattern and color shown on those rims to make a neat little light show...sort of like IASW, just more subtle and always going on. Sort of the city landscape im going for An Apartment of the future could go in on the second level of the starcade that isn't even occupied, using a lot of the left over parts from The Innoventions Dream home, just redesigned to fit that space, just maybe more agressively futuristic(see pic below). This would help create the illusion that people actually live in this land as well as display how these tomorrowlandians(yep tomorrowlandians ![]() The bottom level of the starcade would be redone with the cooler elements from the innoventions 2nd floor, like the new "choose your future" thing.
![]() Except this time the ramps wouldn't be coming out from the center. The new ones would come out from the sides and be slanted so it wouldn't cover as much space...like this... ![]()
Star Tours 2.0 has been rumored for a long time, and all they seem to be doing to it is adding a new movie, but I could be wrong. Anyways, I'd go further and make three(maybe four) different movies and have it be selected randomly. Than the screens would use a new technuique of 3D that doesn't need glasses(it's real! no joke!). Also, the queue would now have an interactive C3PO(and R2D2?) like Mr. Potato head over at TSMM. Also just some basic theming updates to the exit wich as of now is kind of blah. ![]() The Tomorrowland Park would go around the autopia area. Basicly it would act as a park for the city, just like NYC has Central park. This would be the place to escape from the metropolis of Tomorrowland. It would still have futuristic elements, but it would be very vegitated, pretty, and relaxing. Since this area is used for so many other things like the monorail, Autopia, peoplemover, and underneath..the subs, it wouldn't be an abomination to make a whole part of it a large park/walkway with no major attraction. The Peoplemover would have another station here as well, it's far away enough from the other station to afford another station, it would also allow maybe a check up and cleaning point on the cars inbetween the loading and unloading.-it's my hope that I can keep updating this as my ideas grow and become more elaborate, so make sure to check back every so often , i'll post something when I update the OP with new stuff.. so what are your thoughts on it so far? ![]() Last edited by pianoman13; 03-03-2009 at 11:02 PM. |

![]() | Re: Pianoman's Tomorrowland I like this. Looking foreward to more of your ideas. Although, an enclosed PM...you sure that's a good idea considering we are already having to deal with the monorail issue?

Also, remember how I said the architcture would be white and metallic silver-ish? well, think of the places were the PM track pops out, it could be like the splash of color for Tomorrowland. We could have blue, red, orange, yellow, green, purple, and turqoise colored Poplemovers. | |

![]() | Re: Pianoman's Tomorrowland I like the People Mover Pods idea, but again, they can't be enclosed. I get a little claustrophobic in the enclosed monorail, just thinking of the people mover scares me it were to be enclosed. I propose that they keep that design and roof, but just add bars in a futuristic form where the windows are to help keep air flow going and people safe.

![]() | Re: Pianoman's Tomorrowland The people mover idea is nice but they look too much like the monorails. I think something more simple would be more appropriate. |

![]() | Re: Pianoman's Tomorrowland The main problem with enclosed cars isn't just the a/c unit size. If the power goes out and a ride vehicle is in the heat, the occupants are vulnerable to heatstroke, asphyxiation, etc. Don't get me wrong tho; I love the idea of lil' pod peoplemovers. |

![]() | Re: Pianoman's Tomorrowland I want a structure or domed building or just a ocean influenced building to rise out of a body of water and to then submerge later. If only that was possible at a Disney theme park resort.
