Disneyland Now or Twenty Years Ago

Well, what would you rather have, our current Disneyland or a Disneyland twenty years ago back in 1989?

I'm sticking with 2009. Not because I think all of the changes have been beneficial - far from it! - but because there have been a few really great ones. I like Indy more than I dislike TL 98 and the Pirates changes together, for instance.

Re: Disneyland Now or Twenty Years Ago

I would take 20 years ago. Too bad that Caurosel theater would still be closed though, at least we would have Splash. Plus, its pre pressler.

The Technology is better now, but the old had more heart. (Other then stuff like RDCT and POD of course!)

You should put up a poll, it would be fun. =)

2009. Because I just like all the new additions the park as added. There are definitely some benefits of the 89 version though.

I meet you half-way 1999 as everything was working in Disneyland. Now not so much!

The only thing that was working and not working now was the Rocket Rods. I'd say 2009 is way better that 1999.

Indeed! (Though I would miss Michael Giacchino's track for Space Mountain.)

Re: Disneyland Now or Twenty Years Ago

Is the parking lot included in the '89 version? If it is, I'd go with that one just for the sake of a blank slate for the second gate.

Re: Disneyland Now or Twenty Years Ago

I was going to say absolutely 20 years ago but then I noticed Indy wouldn't be a part of 89. So yes I chose 2009. I'll take Indy over PeopleMover and the original Subs.

Nice question.

Re: Disneyland Now or Twenty Years Ago

Well, I would say all we are losing really is Indiana Jones Adventure and Fantasmic!. The only problem is Indiana Jones Adventure is a huge factor for Disneyland today.

Re: Disneyland Now or Twenty Years Ago

hmm, maybe I would back it up a couple years to 1985, was America Sings still around then? AdventureThu Inner Space was still around too. And was the Tahitian Terrace still around?!!!!

Already mentioned, but The original Golden Horseshoe Shoe still around!!!

Yeah, Have to go with 1985! Abominable was still fairly new in the Matterhorn.

And even though no Splash, I would just head on over to Knott's and get on the Log Ride!

Re: Disneyland Now or Twenty Years Ago

hmmm for educational purposes I'd go back 20 years, it would be an absolute trip. But I'll stick with what I know, and that means an emotional attachment spanning from 1992- today. Sorry retro Disney.

Re: Disneyland Now or Twenty Years Ago

I'd take any year with the Skyway in it. That was like no other ride in the park.

But plenty of others like it in other parks.
