News Situation At Disney - 2/22 - Parks Are Closed For Entry(Merged threads)

Hey, I'm at the park, and while waiting for the tram, they said there's a "situation" and no one is allowed to enter either park. I heard sirens coming from near the park. A friend in the park has no idea that anything is wrong, but security was really tight.

Does anyone know what's going on?

Also, sorry for the short post, I'm on my phone.

Um, now I'm at the gate, and it's caution taped off and barricaded, but they claim the park will reopen later today. They are not clearing out the park though.

What an odd set of clues. Park is full of people. Entrance is taped off to keep more from entering.

Are they allowing people to exit??

Alright, caution tape is being removed and the gates appear to be reopening. Still no other info, though. I'll keep you updated.

Wow, they only opened one side of bag check, and didn't let anyone know until last minute. The crowd outside is ridiculous, I'll post some pics later today when I get home.

Edit: gates still are not open, no crowd control, and no official announcements.

I've been checking google-- nothing yet. And nothing on any of the other Disneyland boards that I have found. Micechat is SO up-to-the-minute!!

FYI - I've been getting phone calls at home from friends in the park and trying to get in the park. There is definitely SOMETHING going on, but no one seems to know what it is.

At this point, there are people in the parks which are not being evacuated. Everything is normal for them, and they are unaware of any problem. There are people in the esplanade. Those people are not able to enter the park. Then there are people outside of the security/bag check. These people are not being allowed to enter the esplanade.

It is a very strange situation. We do not have any idea why this is happening or when people will be allowed to enter the parks.

Maybe a missing child-- they wouldn't want to let anyone in as that would make it more difficult to serch. But they also wouldn't be letting anyone out either.
