Dream Suite

So I read Al Lutz's update and I think it's really cool that John Lasseter has been using it whenever he comes to the park. However, when I was in the park Presiden'ts weekend, I went into City Hall to ask about the Dream Suite. The CM told me that it's still the "Dream Suite" and that people can still win a night in it. He said definitely not as often as during the YOAMD, and he also said there are different ways to get to stay up there now. Could he have just been misinformed? Or are they still giving it out randomely every once in a while...In fact, when I was there that weekend, we saw people in the Suite. We saw what looked like a tv on through the window...maybe it was the Lasseters!

Re: Dream Suite

I was there on the 15th and the sign said dream suite in use or something along those lines and there were plaids up there. Hmmm i figured it was for someone famous untill sunday the 22 when walking thorough tommorowland terrace. I saw a family eating at a table with table cloth and real plates!!!! Just like they used to do for the dream promotion when you won a free meal!! Beats me whats going on?

Re: Dream Suite

I don't know about the other stuff. I'm glad they are still awarding the Dream Suite (if indeed they are) on occasions.

I'm really glad that John is staying over in the park and poking around and really getting to see it and know it and love it and show that love to the cast members. It should do nothing but improve the quality of attractions around the resort as he learns about the intimate workings of the great ones of the past. I really am happy that he is so enthusiastic about it. We haven't had someone like this since 1966.

Re: Dream Suite

Basically the Dream Suite is now a VIP suite as its original intention was for... Guests will still be able to stay in it but only on special occassions or when ever the park needs some good PR...

or they may use it during WWYC like for 100th b-day... marriage at the park... civic hero celebrations

It is refreshing to see one of the head honchos spending days at the park. I hope he takes notes on what is working and not working for public. So that way he can get ideas for new rides or improve on some stuff.

Re: Dream Suite

It really makes me happy to hear that Mr. Lasseter is doing this...and ostensibly just because he wants to. Disneyland can't be improved without the guidance of creative people who really love the park. While I can't say Mr. Lasseter has sold me yet on his ability to encourage the creation of original experiences in the parks, he certainly has my creative respect, and doing something like this is surely evidence that he actually...you know...likes the place. Which is kinda cool.

Re: Dream Suite

I think if it was anyone else staying up there, a fit would have been pitched. But something about John doing that feels right. Not to say I'm not insanely jealous, but still!

It makes me really happy, too, that he stays up there. It also makes me really happy that the chances of staying up there aren't over...even though they are pretty slim. But hey, you can always hope!

Re: Dream Suite

I heard (on MiceChat some where, I believe) that it would still operate as the Dream Suite, but be awarded through various sweepstakes and things of that nature. Not awarded in the same way as YOAMD, where you get randomly chosen in the park. From my understanding you would have to enters contests and such. I'm sure it will also be used to VIPs and what not too.

Re: Dream Suite

Al's article, while accurate on most points, overplayed John's stay in the Suite. He hasn't stayed multiple times, he has stayed once. He was the first non-YOAMD guest to stay in the Suite, and it was a surprise from his wife for their anniversary. I'm sure he'll stay there again, as from what I heard he had a blast, but he is NOT using it as a personal hotel room every weekend or anything - he doesn't have that kind of free time.

The Dream Suite is now controlled by Guest Relations, who are keeping it as a private place for special visits, guests of the company, etc. I have heard different answers as to whether or not it will still be "awarded" once in a while to everyday guests - could go wither way. We have been training more CMs to work in the Dream Suite, so you may have seen them (someone mentioned seeing "plaids" in there) on their training days. To my knowledge John was not only the first Guest to stay there, but the only one since the promotion ended.

Hope that clears up a bit!

Re: Dream Suite

John and his kids love the parks. I don't think they've ever gone in and not stayed the day and played. They really get into the attractions and stuff. As a friend and fan of John, I am glad he is using the DS, but as a stock holder, I kind of have a hard time justifying the extreme expense on its construction when it's so quickly out of the revenue creating stream... why not still use it to drive revenue or park visits, or at least CM morale (CM tours, etc.). It will be interesting how it evolves as time progresses.

Re: Dream Suite

Put the "Dream Suite" back in the hotel. That place should belong to all guests, as The Disney Gallery, not some exclusive hotel room that gets minimal use. Let ALL the DL guests enjoy it.

I have to agree with this. The PARK isn't a hotel. There are three as it is outside the gates.

Okay, as much as I miss the Disney Gallery in that location... let's just remember it's original use. Walt stayed in the park too, why don't we open that up so ALL guests can enjoy it, that's not a hotel either

I'm glad Lasseter stayed it in... at least once since the YOMD left... it'd be nice if they gave it away again to people. They could have thrown it in as a birthday package. If it's your birthday, and you show up, your name is thrown into a hat, and someone wins the stay. That would have been cool, and more encouraging to visit on your birthday. (but probably hard to do since they can't track you in the park)

Walt stayed in the park.....yes. He designed it.

The general public? Uh ...no. Just not seeing it.
