Mr. Incredible Nearly Unmasked, Retro-Flashback, and Stuff. A TR

This is actually from last week. I didn't think there was enough to make a TR out of, but it turns out there is.

After some very distressing stuff recently--made worse by it being willfully-poor conduct on others' part--this visit was made very much on impulse. Most of this garbage has since blown over as I figured it would, and I wanted something to get the last of it out of the way as much as possible, future incidents notwithswtanding. A DLR visit should do the trick.

Or this could be "Celebrate Today at the Disneyland Resort"

I got to the park around 11:30 and ended up missing all the hoopla surrounding the hazardous-materials scare earlier. I didn't even hear about it until going online the following day.

But the day started off poorly anyway: I was witness to a scrum between a guest and CM at the gate. By default I'll initially side with the CM in such situations. But in this case, after witnessing a short incident of severe misconduct from this CM, this went right out the window. Fortunately a second CM intervened, with much more amicable behavior than the guest or CM. At least this didn't set the tone for the day, but it did cast a bit of pall over everything, and conspired to slightly invalidate the "show" for the day. (Next time this happens, I'll go get in another line, no matter how long the wait.) I certainly wasn't made to feel welcome or a valued guest by any gate CM this day, with the exception of a great CM when leaving DCA later.

I was hoping for some occasional drizzle or it being coldish today, for lessening of crowds. No dice; today was a good 3 on my 1-5 busy-ness scale, until later in the evening when it cleared out a good deal. But it wasn't hectic by any means.

A big area was walled off in Town Square

Cyclamen were proliferate in many flowerbeds throughout the park

The construction walls outside Big Thunder Ranch were moved further out and took up most of the road

Trying some more 1/4-second and 1/2-second hand-held shots inside Pirates

While in line, somebody asked me if I had been on Buzz yet. I had seen them before and obviously they recognized me but for the life of me I couldn't associate a name, username on this forum, etc, to them. (I had played one round before this.)

This would be the extent of my involvement in Mardi Gras this year

Some small vestige of the "imagining living here" the original Swiss Family Treehouse evoked

----------------

Frozone celebratin' today

Mr. Incredible nearly becomes unmasked!

Fortunately, the Superhero Support Special Agent Force came to the rescue.

But a good superhero knows when not to take chances.

Could this be a superhero in training?

----------------

----------------

The "hour-ringer" is on vacation

----------------
80z All Stars
Without running around to parades and fireworks and such, this evening was refreshingly low-key, plus the crowds were falling way off around now. As for this band, yeah, they're a cover band. And my interest in cover bands is generally limited at best. But they seemed quite skilled here and played good songs: every one familiar; the original version of nearly every one, in my album collection. I think they'd make a good original act if they added a keyboardist and maybe a saxophonist/multi-instrumentalist. (They seemed to playing along to a track that had keyboard and maybe some other support instrumentation. I dunno if there was any lip-synching or other severe augmentation, but I doubt it.)

Oh, no! It's--- (you know)

Take me down to Tomorrowland Terrace
Where the rides are good and the bands are fairest

I was thinking the lead singer could do a passable Billy Idol impersonation. I didn't have to wait long to find out.

All done.

----------------

I had waffled--again--over whether to get some goodies at the candy shop. I did--and had very good timing.

These are good. This was made particularly worthwhile by the expert CM at the shop who was making it an especially enjoyable experience for all.

I snuck a shot of their nametag...

This seems familiar...

Goodnight.

Great report!

The 80's All Starz aren't our first choice in TT bands, but they're not the last either.

Good catch on Frozone!

Thanks for sharing!

It was just his mask (the black part--it turns out it's a separate piece) that started coming off. The parade crew got it back on, but it probably wasn't secure enough so he left the parade. Rest assured, he wasn't almost decapitated, just unmasked.

Later on I was starting to think that was you in line. Your mugshot was up on the screens most of the evening. I dunno about a duel; I can't be paired on this ride. And more importantly if we're too close by and our styles of gameplay are anything alike, we'll certainly be competing for the same targets and dragging down our scores...maybe we can be several boats apart, that way we can still give each other a little bit of a hard time.
Here's my scores for the day:
847k/13th
1.145M/10th
954.4k/32nd
652.1k/94th (once again just squeezed into the top 100 on that round)

Ah ok I see it now. Even though I don't really care for the Inc. Sorry calling them that can't spell there names so I call them Inc. That be scary if the head came off in front of the kids. I could see crying from them.

I didn't get number one that day. I could have but I sort of mess up when I was riding. I just rode it three times in the night and all my scores were in the top ten. Only one person scored higher then 2 million because the ride probably stopped on that person. Anyway a duel that is far away from each other sounds good.
I heard that the park might be busy this weekend as well.
