Toy Story Musical

Does anyone have any info/details on when the Toy Story Musical will replace Aladdin at DCA? Is that still just a rumor? Will the Aladdin show building (sorry, don't know the name of it) be shuttered for a long time before TSM debuts? We are planning a DLR trip for the fall or winter, and would like to see one of these shows -- we'd rather not show up in between the two shows, when nothing is happening in that building.

Probably not. But in my opinion, it can't get rid of Aladdin soon enough.

I totally agree. My vote would be for a condensed version of the "Mary Poppins" Broadway show, but I know that's not gonna happen. But, really, anything other than Aladdin. Have I properly expressed how much hate! I feel for this show? Probably not.

Why shouldn't it get one? The entire movie franchise is absolutely loaded with respectful and interesting references to California specifically - it's almost a character in the films.

Oh...wait. That doesn't apply to any of the movie-based attractions in DCA.

Red Face Re: Toy Story Musical

I guess there is fear that DCA will become Pixarland (as if it isn't anyways). But, that's better than DCA circa 2001.

And does "Toy Story" specifically state that it's set in California? I mean, the architecture in Andy's neighborhood are pretty suburban SoCal, but I thought it was supposed to be placeless, like Anywheresville, USA.

Am I looking too deeply into this? Probably.

Re: Toy Story Musical

At one point this was a sure thing to be added in DCA. But with the actual updates to Hollywoood Backlot coming in phase 2, this may have been shelved as well for the time being.

Re: Toy Story Musical

I've heard Aladdin will be playing at least until spring.

And having seen both shows, I absolutely prefer Aladdin. You won't realize how much you liked Aladdin until you see TStM... Toy Story wasn't funny, the songs weren't good (except maybe Sid's solo), and it was nothing more than a condensed Toy Story the movie on stage. Not to mention DLR doesn't need another Toy Story tie-in.

Aladdin, on the other hand, could be Broadway caliber. Here's hoping Aladdin stays until they can come up with a better show.

Re: Toy Story Musical

I hope that doesn't happen. That would be the third Toy Story thing at the resort. Also, I like Aladdin.

I think it's performed on the cruise ships, but I could be wrong.

Re: Toy Story Musical

I wouldn't be sad if Aladdin is replaced. What about a smaller rendition of the Little Mermaid broadway show? I think that'd tie in nicely if they debuted it around the opening of the new attraction, but that could be TLM overload for many.

Or, against the wishes of many here (probably) a stage version of High School Musical? Personally, I'd take anything over another Pixar based attraction/show/parade/etc.

Re: Toy Story Musical

poppins really would be a good pick. anything but the toys again...
perhaps even an original story based on something about california
I guess Iīm either too old or too Swedish to understand why high school musical should be in any park

I would like to see Aladdin stay. To me, the show never gets old. The Genie is always coming up with fresh new jokes.
