Yes, I was disappointed. And more than a little annoyed. And now the mint doubloons. Sheesh.
I ate there Tuesday night and saw a little girl at the table next to us with the lighted Tinkerbell clip on her drink but the menu still said Tink or Hook.
And why does the regular menu not list all the dessert choices? I saw Mint Dubloons listed and considered getting it, but then the server told us that the Flying Dutchman was an option for dessert, but didn't see it listed. Weird.
But it's worth it for the table on the water, waving and toasting to the people passing by on the Pirates boats and seeing/hearing their reactions, it makes it fun.

Dessert (and a few entree's) have always been subject to change/additional to the menu. We prefer it when they bring the dessert tray over to our table for us to choose what to order.

Their "specials" for the entree's have varied over the years. It keeps things interesting.

So did anyone from the POTC boats ask you to throw them a roll???

And did you?

No wonder they no longer give them out! People all over have cups of them at home!

Re: Mint dubloons at Blue Bayou

Had (a fantastic) dinner at Blue Bayou last night and no, no dubloons.

I would hardly complain though. Was a little leery to go and spend the money after reading some stuff on here, but I must say it was worth EVERY CENT!!!

Elly, you are absolutely right. The surf,n,turf was fantabulous. The mignon was a generous portion and cooked to absolute perfection. The lobster tail was the best I've had. Even the potatoes and veggies were great. I had the spinach and spinach lovers will love it. Very tasty.

We were seated by the water and the atmosphere was perfect. I spose for those who go there often, its no big deal anymore, but for us out of towners who only go occasionally, its well worth the money spent.

I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a dining experience this much.

Dubloons or no dubloons!!!

Re: Mint dubloons at Blue Bayou

They are mint chocolates in a gold foil, in the shape of a coin. At one time they had "BB" embossed in scrolled letters in the chocolate. Most recently, they were a gold coin, with a drawing of the skeleton at the ship's wheel, on the front of the gold foil.

It is sad that they have disappeared. Especially, since so much of the charm of the Blue Bayou went buh-bye, when it was changed up around 2005. I still miss the basket of rolls that they used to bring you. That was just part of the great dining experience. The individual roll just isn't the same thing, sure you can play the part of "Oliver" and ask "may I have some more", because it's doubtful that the wait staff would ever ask if you would like more, but it's hardly the southern hospitality you would expect in New Orleans.

They DID used to sell them, but, I think that's a thing of the past. (Like a few years past.)

When we were there last Friday night, our waiter asked a couple of times if we wanted more rolls.

Our dinner was excellent and you can't beat the location on the bayou.
The food and the service were wonderful.

There are (were) a few different drawings - the pirate on the cannon and the readhead are 2 that come to mind.

Eh, I've never particularly liked the restaurants with the "bread maven" set-up, it goes against the 'service model' if the patron has to ask for something. With good service, the restaurant hosts should be the ones asking.

EDIT: doubloon.
