Re: Oh no! Another Peoplemover Idea!

I say put up some plexiglass walls and turn the entire thing into a Segway track. That would be fun. Kinda like Autopia for grown ups.

Re: Oh no! Another Peoplemover Idea!

I'd be happy with anything up there. The Wall-E peoplemover made me think it would be cool if they just had something. Make it look like it's moving cargo around, but have it travel the entire track. Put some fun stuff in there. Even if a ride isn't resurrected I've love to see SOMETHING go by on those tracks again!

Re: Oh no! Another Peoplemover Idea!

To recap my previous protests against this sort of idea:

WALL-E is not an optimistic view of the future. Tomorrowland is, or at least it's supposed to be. That makes them thematically contradictory. Changing one to fit the other compromises its integrity and defeats the purpose of marrying the two. Pointing out that the end of the film is optimistic misses the point, because from there on out, humanity has to rebuild their society more or less from scratch. The pods we see in the film won't be used; they'll have to build something else eventually, something we never see in the film. Consequently, the tracks should get something completely original.

Your right of coarse. For any high speed ride like the one I described either banked turns or some serious retrofitting would be needed. Granted a 2 person aluminum framed, carbon fiber carriage would weigh signifigantly less than one of the old rocket rods, but that old track just wasn't made for something pulling some serious g's. In my perfect world the old track would be mostly demolished and then rebuilt with modern building materials and practices for something like my described ride (Sigh...If only it were that simple). I think I'm one of the few people who liked RR, despite it's flaws, better than the PM and I grew up with and rode PM many times.

Hear, hear!!

As I've stated, I don't believe the PM should have a theme, but if it must tie into a movie it should tie into Meet the Robinsons. Unfortunately, having people float above the tracks in bubbles is a bit impractical!

I honestly don't remember where I heard about that and I think it's very bluesky, but I've heard it's something that WDI has some concepts for.

Well that's cool. I suppose anything's possible with the right people onboard, if they threw the same amount of money at my concept as they are at that new cars ride I bet they could make it work. But your right i'm sure its just one of dozens of ideas for that track.

Okay so we're not really talking about the movie here. We're talking about the People Mover IN the movie. And you know what? The designers looked at Disneyland's Tomorrowland as inspiration for how to design this awesome look for the Axiom.

But I agree... it should be something original. But that's not what we're gonna get.

Yep. Carsland is a perfect example of a great idea gone horribly wrong. I can't think of a more disgusting bastardization of the open highways desert theme. With thinking like that we'll probably end up getting the tram from the Incredibles.

I think they're going more with something TRON related at this current point in time. But that may change even.

How well the movie does will have a major say in that.

I would be okay with it if there weren't any overt WALL-E theme to the ride but they just shared visual styles. It would come across as if they'd just designed the PM 2.0 a few years earlier and included a shot of it as an Easter Egg in the film. But opening it as WALL-E's Axiom PeopleMover with immobile plastic robots along the track would not be a good route at all.

Oh I agree 100% on that. Same thing I said when people were all hoping for Incredipods. I certainly don't want another "The Incredibles Incredipods, inspired by the Disney-Pixar The Incredibles". Design wise.. I'm all for it.
