![]() | Trip Report- 3.14.09 Hi friends, Well I am late at posting this Trip Report, but hopefully it will still be entertaining. If you recall, my first post on these boards was entitled "Anxious mouse" or something like that. I was very nervous about this trip, but got great tips from MiceChatters. Anyways, I took over 250 photos on my day there (Saturday, March 14), so my memory card was full by the evening. I won't bore you with all the photos, so some of the highlights will be posted. On Friday night, I drove from Santa Barbara to Camarillo and spent the night there. Early Saturday morning, my father and I left for Disneyland around 7:20. I wanted to leave at 7am, but got so nervous that I had a stomach-ache. This usually happens when I'm nervous, by the way. So we hit the road and it's an easyish drive to LA. I avoid driving to LA at all costs, in fact I've only drive south of Thousand Oaks twice. (Both times, for LUSH store parties in Santa Monica). We took the 101 to the 5, so luckily there wasn't a whole lot of changing highways. We arrived a little after 9AM, and had to wait 10 minutes or so until we could pay for our parking. We parked in the waaaaay back of the 2nd floor (Daisy). From there, it was easy to follow the crowd to the trams. If you remember from my other thread, the reason we are going today is because my Dad got an invite to Club 33 (wee)! We had to find the right desk to pickup the complimentary park hopper tickets. Of course, I found a Guest something or other booth outside of DisneyLand, but it was the wrong one. We had to cut over to DCA and pickup our tickets at the Guest something or other booth. We had to show our ID's to pickup the tickets, and then they gave us a small page with information on the dress code. Apparently not everyone in our lunch party paid attention to this code. More about this later... Now- onto the pictures! ![]() ![]() My Dad and I entered the park around 9:30, and the first thing we did was jump aboard a red "Firetruck". There was a bell at the back, and the driver put me in charge of ringing the bell. It was actually pretty cool. ![]() ![]() He drove us up to the Castle, and gave us stickers. Wahoo! ![]() ![]() Our first ride was the Carousel (my choice). The picture above is of the horsie I rode. Next, Dad choose a ride. He wanted Splash Mountain, so we ran over there and got *right* onto the ride! It was chilly, around 10AM on a Saturday morning, and apparently this was the best time to walk onto it. I was nervous about going on this ride because it's so closed on, and it's not easy to escape, but I survived. The drops really scared me. I screamed like a baby when you drop into the dark room where your clothes glow. Then I couldn't even open my mouth to scream when we went down the big drop. My photo was so embarrassing, I looked terrified. So then my Dad and I waited around on Main Street for my sister to arrive at the park. She came later than us, because one of her favorite vendors was at the Santa Monica's Farmers Market. We waited almost an hour for her. Ms. Tardy! Now all together, we went to the Tiki Room because I wanted to try the famous Dole Whip Float. ![]() ![]() Ta-Da! It was chilly out this morning, and most people were drinking warm coffee's, and I was the weird one who didn't give a darn. I needed to try this pineapple drink! I was hoping to love it, since my expectations were so high. It was okay. ![]() Then all 3 of us went on the Jungle Cruise, which was my sister's choice. My favorite part about this ride was seeing real ducks hanging out in the water. Those were the only real animals on the cruise! Afterward all of this, it was nearly 1PM. We had 1:15PM lunch reservations and I wanted to arrive early. ![]() ![]() Outside the famous door. Now, we had a party of 10 people. They wouldn't let us in until all 10 people were present. While letting us in through the door, the door-lady (I'm not sure what to call her) wouldn't let 2 people in because they had flip-flops. This couple then had to scramble around the park and buy some Croc's. Who know they would allow Croc's, but not flip-flops? Hm. In the meantime, the other 8 of us waited in the downstairs lobby. Eventually around 1:45, they let us wait upstairs. Our table still wasn't ready, so apparently we weren't being held up by the wrong-shoe couple. Around 2PM we were seated. This is the table setting. ![]() The host gave us a menu with a couple entree's. First everyone ordered drinks. A couple of us got a popular fruity drink, which I don't know the name of. ![]() ![]() Yummy. This was non-alcoholic...and I saved the little spear w/a 33 written on it! Now the ladies placed their entree orders first, then the men. With that done, we got to visit the appetizer bar! Later, our meals arrived. ![]() ![]() My well-done steak, fries, and this cool banana-ketchup. My sister ordered some fish item, and my dad got pork chops. We all enjoyed our meals. Here are some other pics of Club 33. I truly took a ton of pictures in here, including about 10 pics in the bathroom. :X But here are a couple highlights: ![]() ![]() Telephone booth. ![]() ![]() Trophy room (I thought we would eat in here, but we didn't). ![]() ![]() Another view of the trophy room. ![]() ![]() The case with stuff to buy. I totally forgot to buy Club 33 Mickey Ears! Argh. ![]() ![]() These ears would have been happy on my head. ![]() ![]() Mary Poppin's sketches. ![]() ![]() I love this one of Walt. ![]() ![]() And the castle!! Now, this is a bit out of order, but after Splash Mountain my Dad and I visited Pooh Corner. I love all candy, treats, and desserts...so I was so excited to see this place. Pic's to follow in a later post.. Last edited by roxy72; 03-17-2009 at 09:27 PM. |

![]() | Re: Trip Report- 3.14.09 Well I am finally back to post an update! Last night I had trouble signing into Photobucket (arrgh), but I got in okay right now. So I was very excited for candy, sweets, and mainly--Pooh Corner! So I took a bunch of pictures in there. Pooh corner!!! Home to the elusive Tigger Tail and Honey Pot caramel apple. ![]() No Minnie Mouse apples that day. ![]() ![]() It's not biggie, because I had my eyes on a Honey (or should I say "hunny") pot! ![]() Cupcakes. I can get better at Crumb's. ![]() Fudge is back! I remember a semi-recent thread asking why there hasn't been much fudge around recently. I vowed to find some during my trip. Lo and behold, Pooh Corner had three types. Cookies N Cream, Rocky Road, and regular chocolate. ![]() ![]() ![]() I will eat you, little Tigger Tail. nom nom nom! ![]() This was cute, so festive. ![]() That's it for Pooh Corner. Next I visited the candy shop on Main Street. The ladies in the window were making chocolate-covered strawberries. ![]() The one on the right even waved at me. ![]() ![]() *wipes drool from window* ![]() They also had some thingies related to St. Patty's day. (look at lower right-hand corner) Nearby, we went into the 1 cent Arcade. I had no idea what this was, until my dad put a penny in a machine and I saw an old-school movie with Charlie Chaplin in it. I cannot believe people used to watch movies like that. Tonight I can try to upload more pics into my Photobucket then post 'em later. P.S. Is anyone else here on the Dis forums? Or is there competition between MiceChatters and Dis? I'm only asking because I recently discovered some awesome Trip Reports of Disney Cruises on the Dis forums...and I'm wondering if any of you are on Dis.
