Re: New spotlights Main Street roof?

OK, once again, the rails and the lights were up during the DAY since Disney was allowing some TV to be filmed there, who knows if it was internal, or an outside agency (which usually still uses Disney staff to film the event, only the "Front of the Camera" is different).

The lights were used for "Back Lighting", something that is done on most Film/Video productions.

Once the filming ended, the lights and the railings were taken down until they are needed for the evening production. (And based on what I know, the railings are not needed at nighttime, as the Fireworks crew doesn't get close to the edge of the building).

So do the lights on MSUSA have as much power as a nuclear bomb or not?

I don't know, but I'd love to see the math on it.

    Ok... you asked for it:

    1 megaton = 4,180,000,000,000,000 joules

Syncrolites = 4,000 or 7,000 or 10,000 watt models (I don't know which the Main Street version is) (Syncrolite : Products) We'll use the big one (10,000 watts) here.

    1 watt = 1 joule / second.

    10,000 watts = 10,000 joules / second.

Basically this means that for every second that light is on, it is putting out 10,000 joules of energy (in the forms of light and heat). This leads us to the point that if the light is on long enough, it will eventually put out the same amount of energy as an atomic bomb. But how long?

    4,180,000,000,000,000 j / 10,000 (j/s) = 418,000,000,000 seconds.
    Which comes out to about:
    13,254 years 8 months 9 days 11 hours 51 minutes 55 seconds.
A 1 megaton bomb releases that same energy in a matter of milliseconds.
The fully loaded B2 releases 19.2 times that amount of energy and it would take, therefore, 19.2 times as long for the Syncrolite to release it, or 19.2 times as many lights.

If the main street light is one of the smaller models, it will only take longer to go through the same energy as a 1 megaton explosion.

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter

But how many lights are there om MSUSA? Sure a single light would take a long time but we are talking about quite a few more lights than a single bulb on MSUSA.

A woodchuck would chuck all the wood that the woodchuck would chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood.

Backing up a bit to the fighter/locomotive debate. How about a disney locomotive engine at full speed vs the fighter at full speed, which has more kinetic energy?

To assist Mycroft with some numbers he'll need:

Max speed of the fastest Disney engine is probably around 40, maybe 50 miles per hour (Holliday or Ripley). The engines weight about 12 tons. each.

I think we all know any modern military fighter/bomber has WAY more kinetic energy than a Disney engine, but I look forward to seeing the numbers.

To make it more difficult, next I may request Mycroft to make the calculations using a slide rule.
