Rumor Star Tours 2 Project Stepped Up To 2010?

Rumor has it that there is a movement on to show Disney company honchos that TDA and Imagineering staff are busy with a project in order to use as a reason for not letting them go. What I am referring to is the designing of the coming new Star Tours ride ..with a lavishly budgeted bevy of in-cabin special effects.

If all goes well (if the rumor proves true), we could be looking at a 2010 opening as opposed to the previously reported 2011. This earlier targeted opening still may depend on Anaheim/Glendale's ability to inspire and induce suits at the Oriental Land Company to make the project a mutual financial venture. Let's keep our fingers and toes crossed!

It's mind numning to even attempt to fathom the notion of imagineers turning their creative abilities on high with pretty much an unrestricted budget.

Sorry to pour cold water on all our hopes, but I'm highly skeptical of this. We still have never even had any official announcement from Disney about the Star Tours sequel. Plus, the whole notion that they might be looking to lay off Imagineers again is a really bad sign.

If there is any truth to this at all, then it is appalling that WDW isn't partnering with DLR on Star Tours II. With zero new rides in the pipeline, you have to wonder WTF are they thinking??

WDW was partnering with them on this but backed out because of money which is why WDI is now in talks with the OLC. Backing out when money gets involved is pretty typical of WDW's past pattern of adding rides. They seem to only want the cheapest quickest things they can get. Which, in my opinion, is why for the 50th, they only added attractions from other parks so that there was zero development cost, only construction cost.

It is absolutely appalling that WDW appears to think like this consistently, but definitely not out of the ordinary.

As for there being no official announcement, no one said there had been. Just that there is rumor of this attempt by WDI to force Burbank's hand on this one. We know that WDI works up projects for YEARS before they are announced. The DCA makeover was in the works as early as 3 years ago at least. That's right after the 50th. Just because it hasn't been greenlit or officially announced does not mean that it is not being worked on.

Well, if OLC declines (Which I can't see why), there's always DLP (which is rumoured to get TLM ride along with DCA since WDW backed out). We can all dream!

hey i'm sure theres a thread for this somewhere but no idea where, so i was wondering does anyone know what World of Color is gonna be? i've seen the signs for it at DCA.
