Re: When did Churros arrive at Disneyland?

I really don't understand the fascination with churros at the DLR. If you get them warm, that's one thing. Seems like most of the ones I've had there are cold, and greasy tasting.

Much like the softball-sized fritters I used to make for the old Royal Street Veranda in NOS, which sold like, if you'll pardon the expression, "hot cakes".

They also sell those by the bag at Rancho. They don't come fresh, obviously, but they're still good.

Those are food heaven. I have been known in the past just to get a bag of those and eat them while everyone else is eating a proper dinner. I am sure it isn't good for me but they are so good!

Okay...seriously, that sounds amazing! Not that I really need another deep fried food option at the park. I had corn dogs twice this last trip! I think I could sink a Small World boat with all of the food I eat!

Also...I agree that the churros at the park are only truely awesome when fresh (like all fried food). However, they do stand out because the batter is light, airy and yummy (especially when compared to Costco's, which have a tendancy to be lumpy and dense).

Oh yes!!! I love them. They are def. better than any of the Rancho dishes lol I didn't know they were available in DCA... thanks to whoever mentioned that
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

And I don't think they were from a cart, if that helps.

    Info?
My mom makes those on occasion. I remember always having to get churros in Fantasyland. The other option was near Autopia and the old Hatmosphere (present day Winner's Circle). Then they spread to New Orleans! Their popularity will never die!

Does anyone remember the strawberry churros that used to be sold at the California Churros cart in Sunshine Plaza in DCA? Such a simple concept, but so good...
I was going to ask the same question, or similar anyway....I remember a red sugar and I thought they called it a candy apple churro. I thought they sold it at Christmas time for a couple years in Disneyland. I LOVED them!!

Bring back the red churros!!!! (whether strawberry or candy apple)

MMMMM!! Loved the Strawberry churros. And when Flik's opened, the churros cart in there had "Mud Flavored Churros" ( the churro was rolled in chocolate sugar)

Re: When did Churros arrive at Disneyland?

I worked outdoor vending in 1987 and it was around that time we got churros because I remember having to push the carts back and spray them down with water to get all the cinnamon/sugar out. Hope that helps.

Re: When did Churros arrive at Disneyland?

I remember seeing a churro for the first time as a kid at Disneyland in the 80's. As I recall they were only $0.45 and I ate about 7 of them that day.
