It's still a parade they both have floats, music, characters, dancing so this street party is a parade. It was still bad. I like Disney's Parade of the stars better then this one.

Can we please get a real parade back, even something dated like "The World According To Goofy"? This thing just looks like a repackaging of "High School Musical".

Re: Opinions of the New Celebrate Street Party (Spoilers!)

I caught the tail end of the 3:30 show on Main Street and then saw the full thing at 7:00ish by Small World.

I did like it, it was so different from anything they had done recently. The out of character dancing for Pooh and Mary Poppins was hysterical. I really did like that they kept adding elements and performers to the show as it progressed to build it up. Seeing Clarice brought back fond memories of trips to Tokyo Disney. On that note, the whole thing has a hint of flavor of a show that TDR would host for a few weeks for a special event.

The nightime lighting really adds a lot to the show as well. It did not look nearly as exciting on Main Street in the day then it did at Small World at dusk.

I to, however, wish that PoD and Celebrate! ran together daily.

Where do you get a question like that from? I'm not even gonna answer it, it has nothing to do with anything I posted about..

Re: Opinions of the New Celebrate Street Party (Spoilers!)

I went in expecting the worse and I actually don't think it was that bad. It was upbeat and had a lot of energy.

Personally over the last few years I grew pretty sick and tired of the generic Disney character parades they have offered. I don't think that Parade of Dreams was all that different from the Parade of the Stars. This was different and it put the characters in the backseat which I really liked.

I do think though that you have to be there to really fully enjoy it.

And plus if you have kids that get selected to participate, it automatically becomes the best parade that Disney has ever done.

Considering everything else going on at the company right now, I think this streetacular was a great choice.

Disneyland or anywhere, by centuries of common tradition, if you stand on the curb and a lineup of entertainment passes you in the street, it's a parade -- no matter how small, how lame, or how Disney marketing tries to spin it with labels like "Street Party."

Again, by long common tradition, a street party is stationary. A street party is where a street gets blocked off from normal traffic and people come to party. A street party doesn't move down the street. That's a parade.

    Get it, TDA?

    Didn't think so.

Then you're sure not to get this: a lot of your customers are getting sick of your refugee-from-a-PowerPoint-presentation insults to their intelligence.

Well, Celebrate! A Street Party is undeniably better than the equivalent show at Walt Disney World.

    Yeah, no thanks.

As tacky as WDW's is, at least they got Baloo and King Louie... characters that really know how to party.

    Disneyland has which party animals?

Are you implying that some characters can't party?

I'm just saying that I would gladly swap Mary Poppins and Bert for Baloo and King Louie. I'd also swap a ton of the same mundane characters for others we rarely see. Now THAT would be worth celebrating.

I know that their visitor surveys and numbers tell them which characters are more popular than others and which character MUST be in a parade, but personally I would rather have a parade with no Disney characters.

Didn't the resort already try that with the Eureka! parade?

They did, but in its defense, the crowds at DCA never surfaced to give the parade a fair trial.
