Opinions of the New Celebrate Street Party (Spoilers!)

Just returned from a trip to DL to see the new parade. What are your opinions? (Only if you have already seen it. Not speculations.)

I have mixed feelings about it. First of all, I am glad it is only lasting this year (supposedly). I don't hate it, but it, as everyone as probably already guessed, is not a real "parade." And not that I was expecting it to be one, I simply say that as a manner of comparison. Since it is not a true parade, and it is relatively short, it doesn't have much repeatability, in my opinion or much of that magical quality that a real Disney parade has.

This is not to detract from the quality of the performances. Definitely not. All involved gave an extremely energetic and entertaining performance as CM performers usually do (though it was their very first performance ever). The "DJ's," calling out instructions to the audience, the stilt walkers, and the '"tricycle-thingys" were all a bit random concept-wise, as was the choice of featured Disney characters. (I can't see Mary Poppins or Peter Pan dancing to I Love Rock and Roll.) Even so, everyone did awesome.

The floats were also randomly conceived, with spiral staircases and rotating signs which tell the audience what to do. (Think 'applause' only 'Dance!') I really wanted the nice LED intelligent lights that the floats all carried, but thats just me. The confetti blasts were fun, but will probably be a pain to clean up. And I'm afraid of how many handed out "drum heads" will be lost over time.

Ultimately it was a great performance, but not a lasting parade. I enjoyed myself, but probably won't go back for awhile. Anyways thats my opinion. What about you?

I know....POD was amazing in everyway, and honestly this is probably one of those parades I'll see once or twice then every other time I am at the park I'll go ride the rides when the parade is going. I too miss POD but I think I can survive 7 months for Christmas Fantasy and then the 55th Anniversary Parade.

i agree, instead of investing in something that will be around for no more than 7 months (i hope no longer), they should have put their money to use in something that will be around for 3 years or more. it makes sense to invest in something that will be around for a few months like the Snow White art exhibit in dca, but for those who are looking forward to a parade at disneyland, they're going to be left thinking "that's it?" a tourist is not going to say "oh, it's a street party, not a parade" they'll want a parade, period.

I am glad they decided to make an investment for 7 months, that is what Disney is and should be all about. Being able to atleast do something in a short time frame! This street party looks awesome! It's fun, festive, and the floats are different and rather cool looking!

Outlander, thanks for posting a nicely written review of CASP! I appreciate that you included both what you liked and didn't like about it.

And I hope that future posters to this thread, respect the wishes in your original post, and add their own opinions of the Street Party based on firsthand accounts. I hope to have my own review posted sometime on Sunday.
