Celebrate A Street Party! 3/27/09

So me and my girlfriend fought the intense crowds, saw many of you there =D and LOVED the new Streetacular ( not a parade.... at all) The floats were colorful ( smelt new, like paint haha), music was very upbeat, kool lighting and effects. Anyway, so I took these vids and put them together, sorry I was taking pics, vids and Celebrateing all at once haha, so it didnt come out AMAZING, but it was alright. I took many other Pics and Vids, hope to post those later =D Enjoy!

Thumbs down Re: Celebrate A Street Party! 3/27/09

Thank you so much for posting this, it was very informative.

About the only good things I can say about it is that the some of the girls in short skirts were cute, the CMs were their usual energetic selves and this will fulfill the parade's usual function of drawing some guests away from attraction queues so the rest of us can get in the shorter lines for a bit. Otherwise, it was just pitiful to watch. I feel embarrassed for Disney that they're putting this on stage even if it's only temporary.

The show floats looked like industrial castoffs. The character balloons were tiny and the confetti appeared minimal. Most of the action takes place at street level so only guests in the first couple rows will be able to see what's going on. I despise the use of non-Disney music reminiscent of a tacky wedding party on such an in-your-face level. It takes me away from the magic of the park's setting and into the real world again, which we're in DL to escape for the day. I can see major crowd control issues around Main St. with this parade. I thought O'Grattan was concerned about this, but it looks like he's asleep at the wheel again. The whole thing looked cheap, like something Six Flags or Cedar Point would do.

In short -

Calling the character balloons tiny is trying to find an excuse to dislike the show. This isn't Party Gras and the character balloons aren't suppose to take over the entire float. Since most of the action is at street level several guest can watch it. There aren't 7 footers everywhere in Disneyland you know. It is a high energy, brightly colored parade, that clearly has some people dancing in their seats. What is the difference with crowd control on this show or on any other parade on Mainstreet? Calling this cheap is another lame excuse for disliking the parade. Disney put skilled dancers inside, the costumes are fairly tastefull, and the characters even dance! Something I haven't seen in a long time!

Honestly people, WHAT DID YOU EXPECT? It's a 7 month parade, don't expect a show the size of PoD! All and all it seems like you are just finding ways to hate the show. 7 months of shorter lines for you then...

In Walt's time, if something was replaced, even for a short time, you knew that it was going to be bigger and better.

Sadly, that case has fewer and fewer repetitions today.

I'm sorry, from looking at the videos, it feels like BPB had more energy and heart. This is a parade that belongs in DCA, at DL you actually want to feel something when you watch a parade or experience the ghosts at the Haunted Mansion, or watch 50 years of E tickets explode across the sky.

I could write a fairy tale,

Once Upon A Time, there was no such thing as filler shows....

It could go on and on, and it would only be a fairy tale.

I completely agree, and miss PoD desperately. But for the average guest that visits the park once or twice a year, I think this is an good move. I really wish they stuck to the original plan and this was going to run with PoD.

Re: Celebrate A Street Party! 3/27/09

Thank You so much for posting that. You just saved me the trouble of sitting there wasting my time. it's pointless and I will be avoiding it. A bunch of leaping around and waving. woo hoo fun. (yawn) I liked Block Party Bash at DCA, but this to me seems stupid. As another poster said, do rides. I can't see how it's much different in person as opposed to youtube. Parade of Dreams or Pixar Parade if you see it online you say "wow I want to see that in person it will be even better" this ehh avoid.

thanks for saving me the time and trouble

Honestly... I enjoyed this heck of a lot more than BPB.

It was fun and really got me in an excited mood!

Re: Celebrate A Street Party! 3/27/09

To be honset, video doesn't do this Street Party justice. It was pretty different in person, more energy, more detail ect. It actually looks kool at night with all the lighting.

Re: Celebrate A Street Party! 3/27/09

This street party was very awesome! Something that I don't think a lot of people really noticed is that the MC's also sing, which is something I've never seen before so I thought it was really cool. The costumes that the dancers wear were so colorful and so simple, but yet so effective. Mickey's costume here compared to WDW's is so cool. He doesn't look like a tourist at all!

A lot of you guys need to realize, hey, we didn't get WDW's....

This is one of those things that you have to see in person and then judge. It's so much better in person.

Re: Celebrate A Street Party! 3/27/09

All the people clamoring to how this is totally undisneylike or how this kind of show doesn't fit in the park really have no sense of history for what kind of things Disneyland's hosted over the years. This fits right in with tons of summer parties they've had that weren't full scale parades and were simply meant to be a fun street show. I hated almost every single parade from the mid 90's until 2005 but it seriously wasn't that big a deal I just go ride rides and enjoy myself =P

I also think it's important to remember this was not designed to replace POD. Comparing it to POD is absolutely pointless. If you want to complain to the executives who got rid of POD that they shouldn't have been so penny pinching in that regards and kept both shows running, fine, but you'll have trouble finding them as they've probably been laid off in the last couple weeks =P
