How to not get wet on splash mountain?

I do think Splash mountain is a great ride (I rode it at WDW). I was just wondering if anyone had any helpful advice on how to stay dry on the ride other than wearing a poncho?

Those people that do get wet do they get just slightly wet or do they get socks soaked with water wet? I know it's a water ride so you should expect to get wet, but I don't want to be wringing out my socks for the next few hours at the park!

Re: How to not get wet on splash mountain?

Hope to sit in the back. It gets the least wet.

If you end up sitting in the back, push yourself up about an inch when you hit the bottom of a drop, so when water spills onto your seat, it goes under you and doesn't result in soaked pants.

Shoes and socks are never safe on Splash Mountain except in the front seat, and I'd much rather have soaked shoes than a soaked EVERYTHING ELSE.

I, too, discovered last time that it helps to ride in the back. When you're standing in line before they put you at a number ("Two of you? Stand at number 4, please.") observe the logs coming in and see who looks the driest.
Of course, now that the weather's going to be warming up, you should dry off pretty quickly.

I tuck my legs up as close to me as possible! And, I wear Crocs, so, if they get wet....no biggie, they dry in a minute. Never wear socks on it, because if they get soaked, you have soggy shoes and socks the rest of the day!

If its Winter, try to ride in the last hour. You will most likely get seated alone or with 1 to 2 other people.

The less weight in the boat means that less water will come up to splash you.

If you ride alone, you will not get splashed at all!

Re: How to not get wet on splash mountain?

I found one way, but it is rather nasty. If you have to sit in the front seat, right before every fall, just bend down. The person behind you will get wet while you are rather dry. This only works for the big drops, for the others, just put you feet out and to the sides where there is some cover for your feet. Still the bending down right before you hit the water has always worked for me and got my friend in the back who wasn't expecting it super wet

Oh, and also....

If you are assigned to the first row but have no one else assigned to sit with you, sit in the second seat and not the front row. The water barely got to me.

I could say, "Don't Ride", but I do love the ride. I always request the back seat. I do like the logs at WDW better.

Re: How to not get wet on splash mountain?

haha maybe we'll take a pancho and plastic bags for our shoes / socks.

crocks don't sound like a bad idea too...

ANyone ever wear crocks in the park for like 12 hours non-stop? Do they keep your feet comfortable?

Re: How to not get wet on splash mountain?

From my (somewhat limited) personal experience, I'd say that there's no surefire way to ride the attraction without getting wet. It seems like each seat gets wet on at least one of the drops, and my feet almost always get wet, no matter where I sit.

Re: How to not get wet on splash mountain?

Ask them to put the old logs back on Splash - you were bound to be a minimum 75% less wet.

Splash used to be my favorite ride, but ever since they changed to this new configuration (of the two seats in back, which created too many log jam issues anyway) it's gone down on my list because of the drenching issues. You would occassionallly get a little wet on the old logs, BUT you would never get drenched like you usually do, these days. maybe one day they will go back to the style that worked better.

Re: How to not get wet on splash mountain?

Dont worry about it and just ride on!!! whenever i go, i ride multiple times a night and i noticed that you get wet the most on the second drop, the one in darkness..so when you plunge into the dark drop get ready haha. The big drop at the end barely seems to get us wet anymore and i try too, like putting the heavier people in the front and such. You wont need a poncho though, your knees most likely will get wet and mist and water drops all over your face.

You can ride with me, Aladdin.

I will protect you from the drenching!
