Peter Pan Scheduled for Refurbishment?!? (Merged)

Usually a few days early. Not always though, I guess it just depends.

Last night we were seated in our vehicle ready to move out on Toad when the ride shut down, the work lights came on and the dispatcher asked us to get back out. They had to evac the ride but we were all told to wait, it would only be a few minutes.

While all this was happening the dispatcher was in a very chatty mood. She started "telling secrets." The most significant was about the Peter Pan refurb. She claims the ride is, indeed, getting new boats and that the boats will hold FOUR PEOPLE. Now, she didn't specifically say one big row or two and we didn't think to ask. But I found this thread this morning and thought I'd share my info.

Looks to me like the track is a big tapered-flange steel I-beam, and the "trucks" (suspension) are modified from industrial crane trolleys. And 4,000 pound rated trolleys are a dime a dozen and available off the shelf, including tight radius trolleys with guide wheels.

The only thing they would need to do is replace the steel wheels with polyurethane over steel coaster tires, so they ride better. And change out the intermittent duty electric motors with continuous duty.

I don't know her name but I can describe her... she was unforgettable. Female, 55-60, just over-the-shoulder-length gray hair, kinda frizzie. I *think* she had glasses. And she was EXTREMELY ENERGETIC. Nearly dancing. Seemed like she was on speed or something. Crazy acting. But very nice. That's who said it.

LOL....You can have her back if you want her!! I actually trained with her over in Fantasyland. Needless to say, Alcohol and Aspirin became my new best friend that week. LOL

Well, she seems to agree with Al a bit... he said wider single rows, and she didn't specify... I've fit 3 small adults in the current boats before, so I can easily imagine room for four kids or teens, and maybe small adults as well. However, with my new Disneyland group I go with, 2 is all we can get to fit in there now, so maybe with a wider row we'll be able to get up to 3!
