Fantasmic Refurb +Changes

Inside sources are telling me (along with many other sites for most of the information):
Fantasmic!'s last night was on Saturday before perhaps one of the biggest changes to take place. The reports are that there are going to be three big show changes:
1) Addition of the Jet Skiers going around during the Ursula scene. They will be Flotsam and Jetsam.
2) There will supposedly be a replacement crocodile.
3) THere will be a new dragon, aka "Bucky 2.0." She will be flown in within the next few weeks and will be installed by helicopter. She is supposed to be a huge animatronic with arms that will reach out and grab items and get even closer to the river to light it on fire.

Most of these changes will be announced on April 24th in a Disney Press Release along with changes to the Electrical Parade and the announcement of Magical.

Knew about the new Dragon and The Eels but not Tic Toc. May be they will fix the light for him. I kind of remember back in 2004 they had light on him so you can see him better.

Every time someone talks about the dragon I find out something new! This beast better live up to my expectations hahaha!

oo yay! i can't wait for the dragon. so i guess it won't be here by may... that's when i leave la for home (nor cal).

i feel so bad for people who are seeing fantasmic for the first time when i've been there lately and are expecting a good scene but it just gets anticlimatic with no dragon. last time i went the dad to his kid was like oh! here come a really good part! (thinking the dragon was coming) i felt so bad!!

I'm excited at the prospect of a more elaborate dragon but I wonder if this complex beast is tried and true or if it will be more susceptible to complications and we'll be seeing a lot more of floating Maleficent.

Aside from the given, I'm also hoping they will rework the lighting for the opening which has looked so achromatic since the change.

The fountains seem to need some attention; the fan especially. I've always appreciated that 'imperfect', kind of messy look of them, looks more organic, but they've been looking a little more messy than they used to, as well as not quite hitting their cues. Perhaps the pumps powering the jets need replacing?

The finale has also failed to grow on me. There is definitely some improvement over the original, but overall it's feels anti-climactic.

In any case, I'm happy Disneyland has given a good deal of attention to what is easily the best piece of live entertainment they have ever created for the park... and here's hoping that the 'enhancements' they made to the DHS version stay and die there.

So exactly how big is the pit under the mill that holds the dragon during the day, or is it in the house the whole time? I was one of the lucky ones to see the first ever public Fantasmic showing back in the early 90s and I've always wanted to see the layout of where everything is tucked away during the day.

40 feet comes to mind. But my memory has had bad days... almost everyday.

the pit is about 20'x20', but it is 25'-30' deep. it is just to the right (from the audiences view) of center stage. to the left is the mickey lift and lights, and to the right of the dragon pit is the malificent lift, the three projector rooms are to either side and in front of the dragon pit. the porch of the mill(tavern, whatever you want to call it now) does not have a lot on it, the attic level has the other mickey lift. Kaa and the flower petals live in a tunnel behind the mill.
