Part one:
So yesterday (April 4) my Mom and stepdad had brunch with friends in Laguna Beach, and dinner with friends at DTD, so they offered to drop me off alone at the Park for the whole day. Since I never pass up a chance to go to DL I went! And I had a blast.
Morning. I had an uncooked english muffin for breakfast because I was being slow and we were in a rush to get down to Orange County in time.
About 35 minutes later I was dropped off at a Residence Inn in Anaheim where we would always stay when we lived in NY. It's only about 1 block from the resort so I had a leisurely stroll and listened to some music.
I got to the park at 10am-ish. I don't remember exactly when. Kinda crowded, but not too bad. And less crowded than last Sunday.
The weird celebrate envelope:
What next?
I decided on Indy but it was 101 so I surprised myself with an old standby:
Coheteboy suggested that I do a bunch of things that I wouldn't normally do, and while I didn't do a bunch of things per-se, I did do some things I wouldn't normally go out of my way to do and Pirates was one of them.
It was about this time in my trip where I realized I'm not very good with a camera, and without a tripod I don't know how to get decent low light shots. So, I apologize in advance for any blurry shots.
Next up was Splash Mountain, which I got a single rider ticket for. There was really no wait at all. I got on instantly.
Next I got on HM! Easily my favorite dark ride in the park.
I downloaded all of Datameister's Virtual Tour videos from youtube (and fixed the sound) a while back so I could watch them on my ipod and use them as a reference in the park. Very handy and fun to watch when you're in line.
The wait times were pretty good until later that afternoon, but even then they were still manageable. This shot was taken around 11:30 am:
I grabbed a fastpass for Space:
And got a single rider ticket for Indy, which was now up and running again:
Adventureland was crowded, as usual:
I wanted to try something I've heard a lot about. Behold; my very first Dole Whip:
It was tangy like sherbet, but creamy like ice cream. Did it like, change my life? No. But it was very good and I plan to have another one someday.
Next up was the matterhorn. I usually prefer side A (Tomorrowland side) but I accidentally got in line for side B (Fantasyland side) and I still liked it a lot. Very fun coaster.
Lunch time:
I got a bacon cheeseburger and a 32 oz coke at Village Haus. With my AP discounts, it added up to $10.07 I think. Not bad. Beleive it or not, this was the first time I had ever bought park food. I usually bring a sandwhich or something. I thought the portions were kind of small, but the prices were alright after my discount.
I rode Big Thunder that morning but I can't seem to find the pictures I took. Either way I did ride it sometime that morning. The wait in line was only 15 minutes too.
After lunch I rode Pinocchio, another thing I may have skipped if Coheteboy hadn't suggested I try some things I wouldn't normally do.
I went back to the west side of the park after that as a single rider again but even that line was very long. So I tried another thing I may have skipped: Pooh.
I hadn't ridden it in a few years and I thought it was pretty good. It confuses me a bit though.
Alright that wraps up part one. I'll post part two containing DCA, Innoventions and the rest of my day later tonight!
Thanks for reading!![]()
