Disney's World Of Color...Classic Early Disney Songs You'd Like To See

If you are like me, it's great fun to wonder about which songs Disney will select to feature in the coming World of Color nightime extravaganza. Certainly hope the show will include a good number of beloved classic tunes. These songs should be all the more delightful played in conjunction with film played on a waterscreen, colorful dancing fountains, piro effects, and much more.

Tell me which classic songs you would like most to be a part of the show. A poll will soon be up.

Re: Disney's World Of Color...Classic Early Disney Songs You'd Like To See

I want the "Wonderful World of Color" theme from the 60s tv program to open the show .. and close it.

Not the exact same early 60s recording ...
But remake it .. in the same arrangement .. with a large quire of men and women.

Please ... don't go for the all childrens quire thing!
    I'm telling you .. it's too cheesy.
I just gag every time I'd watch the fireworks show - Remember.
Even Light Magic went for the cheasy "children's" element.

    It never comes off right.

But in the 20s through as late as 1970 songs included all male quires .. or Male & Female quires. The ultimate effect would cover a more "fuller" vocal range .. to make a song sound more powerful!

And when you see the fountains climbing higher .. and higher .. and higher ........ the more robust all voices need to sound.

You want a show that's going to make you get all choked up!!!

Re: Disney's World Of Color...Classic Early Disney Songs You'd Like To See

And if they can have some of the music be original .. that would be a HUGE plus.

How many times have the various Disney toon themes been played out over the decades .. in one form or another? You know????

    Like ALL the time!!???

Like EVERY parade, since the beginning of time!
    Like EVERY other entertainment offering.

So .. I hope they go for a 50/50 thing.

"Fantasmic!" is the perfect example. A fine mixture of it's original main theme .. to some of the more familiar tunes.

Part "original" music .. part ... familiar strings of tunes we know.

Being a dancing waters show ... The first song that comes to me .. Is - "Be our guest". That could be fun. In the film ... there's a lot of color going on. In a dancing waters format ... it could equally be as "colorful" - on a LARGE scale, that is!

And if anyone has been to water shows ... like the one Sea World had for years .. not to mention the one in the Disneyland Hotel. Long Wood Gardens on the east coast........ the way water flows from fountain to fountain .. lend their way to more "melodic" .. "sweeping" tunes. Some of the music .. Like the Pastoral Symphony in Fantasia is a good example. Even the newer Fantasia film several years ago. The music when the wales were flying .... Set that to the dancing waters ... that could REALLY be uplifting!!

After watching the Ballegio Hotel dancing waters .. and similar, smaller, show at The Grove ........ I'm not wild about setting pop music to dancing waters. To me .. it just does not lend very well to this format. Now ... when Dean Martin's "That's Amore" is playing at The Grove ... the natural flow of the dancing waters is BEAUTIFUL.

And the first "World of Color" show .. NEEDS to emphasis elegance and beauty.

Not songs that have a "punchy" pop beat to them.

A perky and bright remake of the Wonderful World of Color is a fantastic ides! I can see where this would be breathtaking. It would evoke both old and new memories simulteniously.

Looking at the poll now ........
    Oh my .......

If they put in "Little April Shower" and ..... "Feed the Birds" ...
I'm going to wale like a baby!!!!!

Little April Shower should have vocals ... but Feed the Birds should be all instrumental. It would come across more powerful as an instrumental piece .. in a dancing waters show.

Re: Disney's World Of Color...Classic Early Disney Songs You'd Like To See

Here's my opinion with most songs for this type of show.

All songs that were originally sung by one person makes the song more "personal" and more "intimate."

There is nothing intimate about this show!

All songs need to lend a hand in making this a show .. that really takes your breath away!

    Seriously.

Just remembering "Little April Shower" .. it's a quire singing that song. Even in it's somewhat "whispery" tone.

Little April Showers to me is all about renewal and rebirth after the passing of a griefious catastrophic event.

Feed The Birds is about the outpouring of love that we should all have for eachother.

I too would cry tears of joy unspeakable and full pf glory ..within my heart.

Re: Disney's World Of Color...Classic Early Disney Songs You'd Like To See

    Quire? You mean Choir, right?

Anyway, the Wonderful World of Colo[u]r should definitely open and close the show, and still be it's name, but that's another issue.

I'm not going to post in both threads but here's a good song (water and or color themed) list for me:

    "Wonderful World of Color"
"The Spectrum Song" (black and white TV version too if possible)
    "Oh Sing Sweet Nightingale"
    "Candle on the Water"
    "Colors of the Wind"
"Under the Sea" (just before the finale)
"That's What Makes the World Go Round"
    "Someone's Waiting for You"
"The Rain Rain Rain Came Down Down Down"
    "Little April Shower"
"Rainbow Connection" (not sure if they should, but it would look nice)
    "I'm Wishing"
    "The Beautiful Briny"
    "Whale of a Tale"
    "Sailing for Adventure"
"Silver Fairy Theme" (used during house cleaning sequence in SB, could do a pink vs blue thing)

As much as we are getting music from Lion King/Aladdin/Beauty and the Beast etc, I'd rather not have every nighttime Disney show used the exact same songs. Some variety be used that still relates to the concept of the show.
I like The Happiest Millionaire. What's wrong with that?

Ya, staying up past bed time is not the best way to continue to think smart.

Re: Disney's World Of Color...Classic Early Disney Songs You'd Like To See

Cool thread! I've been wondering about this stuff myself.

Seeing as how the show is themed to emotions...they could really do some fantastic stuff with "sad". haha

I'd love to see the anchor tune of the show be "The Wonderful World of Color" obviously.

Here's my list of what I can think of

    The Spectrum Song
    Jolly Holiday
    Chim Chim Cher-ee
    Spoonfull Of Sugar
    Once Upon A Dream (instrumental?)
    You Can Fly!
    Colonel Hathi's March
Bread and Butterflies(is that what it's called?..from Alice in Wonderland)
    Give A little Whiste
    What's This?
    Oogie Boogies Song
    Sally's Song
    "Define Dancing" from Wall-E
When You Wish Upon A Star (obligoratory)

Good thematic song choices here. A special emphasis should be placed on songs that are centered around color, water, and/or that would lend themselves to dramatic pyro effects.

Wonderful World of Color pretty much has to open the show. I agree it should be aired at the begining and end - perhaps a a technologically enhanced version in the opening, and a completely new version at closing.

The show will be one of a kind, the world over. Hope that the same show will not be placed at any other Disney parks. The Disneyland Resort needs unique high scale attractions to draw crowds from throughout the U.S, and multinationally.

I've never seen the Mickey Mouse Club March in any outdoor shows ..fireworks, parades, multi-media ..nada. It would help make DWOC perky and exciting. WWOC is a must have!

Very nice list, pianoman. As you say, variation of emotion does serve to help make this special effects embellished show one that pleases entertains and nourishes the multidemensional sences.

Thanks for your complements regarding the thread. A Once Upon A Dream instrumental would be quite nice. It's a wonderful song. Define Dancing would be so cool in a multi-media show.
