Not sure when I be there in June but for this month it be next friday for a little bit then all day on May 30th.

I asked a cast member about the filming on Thursday. She was standing within the roped off area -- which was the front area of the Rivers of America. The area was full of people, cameras, lights, props (box full of Disney stuffed animals).

The cast member said they would be filming a commercial for Summer Nightastic! that would begin filming around 7:30pm (they were closing at 8pm that night to the general public and it WAS indeed a grad night) and filming would go on well into the night. They moved the Mark Twain to the front of the river behind the roped off area and there were some crew setting up cameras and lights in there as well.

A little boy was going to be the center of the commercial. They were going to get some reaction shots of him basking in the joy and excitement of everything that was happening. They did not run the whole Fantasmic! show, only bit pieces to be edited into it to make it seem like the real thing. So it was only like -- lights, water, dragon, fire but not necessarily much performing. Only special effect shots. I didn't see any of the actual filming though, because we were heading out of the park by then -- but the news was straight from the cast member, who seemed to be there primarily to answer questions and make sure no one passes into the blocked off area.

Anyway -- that's all I know! I thought I would share.

They can't start bringing out the New Dragon till the Westside is "Clear to the Hub" of Guests, and that will take anywhere from a half-hour to an hour to clear the queues at Splash, Mansion and Pirates, then shoo everyone out. (They can be putting away the cameras, putting down the towers, and cleaning up with Guests, just like a norrmal first Fantasmic!)

They might be able to do it and get passable shots, but it'll take a bunch of footage to get the "perfect" publicity shots they prefer to release. That, or someone in the Photoshop Lab at TDA is going to be spending a few all-nighters compositing the shots in a computer (and making it all look believable)...

If they were triggering off show effects like the ROA on fire and any Pyro, they would get maybe three or four takes if they loaded all the show tubes with just the effects shells they wanted to use. Then they have to pack up and get out of the way of the Grad Niters.

I was there, they didn't take out the dragon, they said it's still missing a head so they're going to CGI it later. And I wouldn't be surprised if they closed that area off for Grad Nite. Not only that, but doesn't grad night start till like 10 or 11?

Work on the commercial began at 4:30pm and was to be done by 11:30pm. Grad Nite starts at midnight. So they had plenty of time to get stuff set up and by the time it was dark, begin filming soon after park closing an be done by the time Grad Nite began.

It's funny how some will question people when they give some info about where they got it from or how do they know this. A lot of people do have access to info that is given to CMs and also just happen to be at the park when they are setting stuff up. Disney always has signs up whenever they are doing active filming during park hours. I am glad for those who do share info that may not be readily available to most people. Asking for their source or how do you know all the time just seems plain wrong.

From how many people were giving info about the commercial, I believe it without a source.

I was on the Disney website and their promo video had a full body dragon (full body for the most part) that, however, does not look like the concept art. It has short arms like a T-Rex that aren't connected to anything. An interesting find, but I don't think it's our dragon.
