Rivers of America Spring 2010 closure (merged threads)

In Al's latest update, he mentions the ROA being drained for refurb/Fantasmic udpates in Spring of 2010. When do you think this would be? I am hoping this may be after the Spring Break time?

My guess would be after the holiday season's over, something like January to late April/early May.

My best guess is they'd be replacing the fountains from the simple one directional fountain's to the rumored more dynamic moving fountains.

Is Fantasmic! going to get a humongous floatable platform and movable flamethrowers too?

Those crazy water shows are always trying to one up each other.

When was the last time they drained the RoA? We may finally get some decent images of the F! infrastructure. The only ones out there are hard to find, bad color/grainy/small.

Our revels now are ended. Will our version of F! be getting the extra villians like in the version at WDW?

It has been a while since they drained the ROA. I believe during the Pressler administration, so that would be early to mid 1990's.

    What a waste of water.

Maybe they'll realize that CA is in the midst of a huge drought and recession, and decide to place F! on permanent "hiatus" to save money.

    (one can dream, can't he?)

Won't be that easy, I'm afraid. At least, not if it's like last time (which was in 2003). The entire river along New Orleans Square is walled off, and the only vantage point into the Fant! infrastructure was the stairs up to the Disney Gallery. And if I recall correctly, even that didn't provide a very good view.

Can't you just point the camera over the walls?

I'm sure I remember seeing some good photos of the ROA floor from last time. I'll have to look for them.

They are called monopods. Many were used to get photos into the Sub lagoon during Nemo construction. Or even a tall friend. Or long arms. It will be plenty easy unless the walls are 30 ft high.

Well, you never know what Disney will do to "hide the magic".
