![]() | Some Phase 2 ideas! The have been thinking a lot about DCA’s future and decided to make my own plans for Phase 2. 2013 Draining of Pier- For the begging of Phase 2 I would call a draining of Paradise Pier from a tentative time of January to Mid March. This is so that they can fix all the mechanical issues they are bound to it in the first 3 years. Also to keep the technology updated, with the addition of some new nozzles and show elements. Fun Wheel Enchantments- Some new additions to Mickey’s Fun Wheel such as and interior queue, more enclosed and shaded from the heat and rain and also to provide a better esthetic feel, a new pump type system, if you look on the Cartoon map featured around the park and inside the Blue Sky Cellar, you will see that next to the wheel is a mechanical mechanism of some sort. This would be added behind the wrap around boardwalk that would also come. I would not have the coverings where they are though. Instead I would have one larger one in the center under Mickey’s face. California Scremin’ Retheme- I am opened minded to this but I believe that California Screamin’ desperately needs a retheme. I just thought of a story that might be nice. Mr. Gustav Tinkschmidt has a brother, Albert, who is a big roller coaster fan. When Gustav bought the boardwalk, of course his brother wanted to create the ultimate rollercoaster. Albert thought of this ingenious invention that would send guest flying on their roller coaster experience. However Gustav isn’t to sure about this. Therefore he made his brother Albert conduct several test. Guest first enter a roller coaster museum. It pays tribute to Roller Coasters of this time period and the golden era of boardwalks. Guest continue through the exhibit until they reach a door that says “Workshop”, guest enter through and find themselves in the design studio for Albert’s invention. The first room would feature designs and a small model of the purposed layout for the roller coaster. Guest then continue to the second room which features the mechanism for the ride itself, a lever that when pulled would case a weight to drop and send the coaster into a high speed launch. Here there would be lots of motors and different items powering what appears to be giant test model. A lever will be available to pull and when pulled, causes a seat attached to metal beam to suddenly move forward; creating a great amount of surprise in the room. Slowly then the seat would return to its original position with some steam effects going off as it does so. Finally guest climb the stairs and while they cross the track to walk down to the station, see what appears to be the silhouette Albert appearing through his gas lamp, in his office on the phone with his brother who are arguing about the safety of the guest. Of course this wouldn’t scare the kids, just comical type stuff. Anyways, guest proceed down the stairs and into the loading platforms with the CM’s wearing rags and jeans with patches and some grease marks showing each had worked on this coaster. The cars themselves would just have new trim then some new graphics. Then guest take off out of the station into a tunnel and through the rockwork emerging on the water on brown track as a replacement for Turquoise. Guest will gather around watching their family members ride but there will also be a new small booth that extends outward and shows a lever. A boardwalk barker will be yelling, encouraging people to pull this lever to cause the roller coaster to go for a wild blast. A whistle will go off and the boardwalk barker counts down form “5, 4, 3, 2…1.” The lucky guest will pull the lever and will send the cars flying. Of course the lever will gently move on its own at the appropriate time to tell the guest to pull the lever which they can pull at a greater speed. So most all the teal on the track and the tunnels I would replace with a brown, wood texture. The tunnels will have flags that rise above them with different colors. The actual looks of the coaster would be fairly the same. Excluding the launch which would have some different moving objects, belts, and steam creators attached to create suspense and movement for the launch. The ride would go through as always with a new soundtrack and prior to the drop in front of the loop, guests are sprayed with fog. Guest then return with a Paradise Pier wall to the right of the first brake and to the second, the transfer track station will be converted into a hotel/apartment type complex. Meet and Greet Garden- Taking place of Screamin’s final helix I would have a small garden with gazebos for meet and greets. Nice floral arrangements and the swift songs of Disney classics fill this area. Rock work would be added on the outer edge where Screamin’s support lie and I would also like to see, if possible, for the rockworks to absorb some of the sound form the coaster track. Boardwalk Barkers- These would be the ones that create atmosphere for the park. They are comedians, dancers, singers, jugglers, each would have their own talent and would wander the pier amusing guest. They could sing with guest or create a juggling show to see who the best juggler is in a family. Just short, unexpected type shows that come at random and are fun for guest to watch. They would also promote items in the boardwalk such as entertainment offerings, food venues, shopping offerings, attractions and so on. I have several more ideas, but I might continue them later if anyone cares. |

![]() | Re: Some Phase 2 ideas! Wow ... I love all of these ideas! That is one seriously thought out and well-executed idea for California Screamin'! Most of the proposals I've read on here for a retheme of the coaster kinda ... don't work for me. But this was great! I also love how you took the time to make it work with the existing Gustav story, rather than trying to add yet ANOTHER layer to the Pier. Are your other ideas for HPB or Golden State? I'd love to see some of those. |

![]() | Re: Some Phase 2 ideas! Some neat ideas! The backstory and added things to Screamin' would be welcomed in my book. The lever idea sounds a lot less creepy that other launch ideas i've heard too, actually having the guest pulling it would be a fun thing. |

![]() | Re: Some Phase 2 ideas! Continuing Paradise Pier… New Fencing- Gone is the old caged fencing and it would be replaced with fanciful walls and other details. Much like the concept art, there would be a ticket booth facing Fun Wheel’s queue with an animatronic that would joke around with people. Very clean fun and on the walls surrounding Screamin’ supports would be different advertisements for attractions featured on the boardwalk and in Paradise Pier, such as California Screamin’, Toy Story Midway Mania, Fun Wheel, and different entertainment choices. Removal of Maliboomer- This is the last resort if they do not remove MaliBOOMer prior to this year. It would be out and would get replaced in the coming years with a new attraction. I would debut this attraction in 2016 however I am not sure what type of attraction it should be. I would like something totally unique that would go here, and not a true dark ride, instead an experience similar to one. King Trition’s Carousel- A nice brightly done Carousel that would be added with dark teal wooden covers and an organ in the back that could be played by a person but also plays the keys by itself. Atmospheric Changes- I really can’t tell you what exactly I want as of now because in 2011 some, most, or none of this could be done. There would be lots of greenery and then the revamp of the lamps depending on the current state. To be honest, I can’t tell you exactly what this would be right now. Street Performers- Lots and lots, of street performances. Mary Poppins with her penguins and friends would participate in a fun, interactive performance with guest. No floats just maybe a cart they could store props on that is themed like a car of a circus train. Boardwalk Barkers would create lots of streetmosphere; jokes, contest, and more just randomly done throughout the day. Some nice dancing that would take place in the stage right next to Goofy’s Flite School. Magic Shows that would blow guest minds from ALL angles. All of these would have technical equipment integrated into the area that would allow for instance sound effects, musics, and more with sound operators backstage. Seasonal Shows- I would take advantage of World of Colors new viewing area and have different performances down there. I always thought it would be very cool to have DCA’s own version of Primarvera Spring Carnivale at Tokyo DisneySea and convert the Food and Wine Festival into the Spring Festival which would of course have you same Food and Wine items but also flowers; ornate Flower additions Buena Vista Street, Paradise Pier, and some areas of Grizzly Peak. In the summer, a water show similar to how Pixar Play Parade shoots water, well instead I would feature water jets shot into the crowds of the Viewing area. These would all be possible by small portable stages rolled out before park opening and would go away after the final performance back stage. Each show would utilize some sections of the water fountains from World of Colors set up. Just in the center of the lake so that there is no true reason for closing any attractions as if they might get wet or anything. Photo CMs- They would be given old fashion cameras at picture points. For example with the gorgeous Paradise Pier background the CM’s would have brown uniform vest and pants with white collared shirts. There pictures would be in color of course, but of course guest can choose to have the picture in color or 1900s style. The cameras would look like: ![]() I will continue later with some more Paradise Pier ideas as I think I am leaving something out I just don’t know what, and the begging’s of Hollywood Pictures Backlot and the San Francisco area. |

![]() | Re: Some Phase 2 ideas! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ "Think a bit more neovictorian but with out the darkness. Just with the whole mechanical, steam punk inspired feel. Not trying to be modern at all. But thank you." __________________________________________________ ____________________________________ I didn't mean that it was a modern thing to have a lever to pull and such, I was referring to the fact that the little invention-type room in the queue reminded me of Test Track's queue with all the mechanical stuff as well. I did not mean to sound like I was referring your idea to be modern at all. I hope that makes sense... |

If I hadn't heard an explanation of what was going on I wouldn't know what exactly was happening, except that it had some little hints of a story being there. Every time you went on the ride, you would gather more information and feel special because you felt like you knew what was going on. It's like a way to figure out for yourself what the story is and relate it to the rest of the pier. Then, you feel special because you know all about Paradise Pier and you figured it out by yourself or you were let in on a little known secret so it seems like you actually know Paradise Pier very well. Then, you like Paradise Pier more and more every time you go there because you can gather MORE information or find new things!!! Am I rambling?

![]() | Re: Some Phase 2 ideas! For the lead and trainer party last year, they had entertainment dress up as early 1900's barkers and women in these elegant pier dresses, it was amazing. I think that would be amazing if they had these people as atmosphere chars. Or if they kicked it up a few years and went with the theming of the music with the beach boys and had one peice pinup girl type suits. Kinda like the pictures on the wall, SOO CUTE.

I would just be satisfied if they had dark lights surround the streets, fog rolling onto the streets and have atmosphere characters around the building. aswell as Paradise Pier and the barkers and all that fun stuff! Great Ideas!

![]() | Re: Some Phase 2 ideas! I really like many of your ideas. The Screamin' ideas are great. I might suggest a few minor changes, but I think the idea of Albert, his inventions, and the steam punk feel and all that are wonderful. I also really like the idea of a guest "launching" the coaster. It could totally imagine a kid just going crazy for a chance to launch a coaster themselves. I'd just not go too much in the history of roller coaster direction, sure have a few pictures around the lab as Albert's inspiration, but I'd make that subtle and more expand on many cool crazy inventions he might have. What a cool fun queue that could be, thanks for the post, I really like your ideas and they really got my creative juices flowing. |

![]() | Re: Some Phase 2 ideas! I love the Photo CM's idea, have always loved that camera. The cameras, of course updated, could still have that giant flash technique with smoke spewing out and the curtain effect. Even have the CM's dressed up in the vintage suits when taking your photo!
