Up Pre Parade

I searched but I couldn't find a thread.

I just saw on the calender that there's going to be a pre-parade for UP on June 1st. It doesn't show it going on May 31st, or June 2nd? Are movie pre-parades generally a one time only thing?

If it's a one day thing, man the park is going to be full of AP holders that day, cause I'll definitely be there!

Re: Up Pre Parade

I can't recall a Pixar Pre-Parade actually. This will be cool! I think it will be odd however having a Pixar Pre Parade before a PIXAR Parade.

Re: Up Pre Parade

I just checked the calendar and see that the UP pre parade begins Friday, May 8th and is listed the entire month of May. I'm looking forward to seeing what they will do.

I'm thinking just a crankly old man on an ECV who will shake his fist at guests he putters down the parade route.

And if the movie is a hit I am sure that they will have it longer than just the month of May.

Re: Up Pre Parade

Is this the first time the preparade has been done at DCA? Seems interesting but a perfect fit for the PPP.

Re: Up Pre Parade

The bolt preparade was moved to DCA and ran there for a while, it's been done. Even the high school marching bands had to go over to DCA while Disneyland had no daytime entertainment, and they got to go that full route through the Tower of Terror, down hollywood boulevard, and through the rest of the parade route to avoid going by the parade staging area.

One has to wonder why nobody made the connection to tie in the whole hot air balloon thing they opened at DTD in WDW with Up instead of random flying characters that make it seem like a random mishmash of theming like they do with their parade floats :P

I was actually wondering this yesterday... especially seeing as they opened it fairly close to when the film was coming out... I'm sure it wouldn't have cost that much for a special custom balloon... you've seen the sort they have at those big balloon shows (and street parades in cities in America?) but I'm sure they could have made a balloon that LOOKED like lots of small colourful balloons!

The DTD balloon is operated by a third-party tenant, just like the LEGO Store or Rainforest Cafe.

Disney does not own or operate it, but they licensed characters to Aerophile.

I don't really understand why you posted this... I know Disney don't operate it but even right now it has Disney themeing on the balloon.

Re: Up Pre Parade

The first performance of the pre-parade was today. Anyone else see it? I thought it was ok, but nowhere near as good as the Bolt pre-parade was.

I filmed a short video of the parade and have uploaded it to YouTube: I still have videos of the Bolt Pre-Parade too in case you want to compare it.
