Expanded hours on Monday October 10?

    Hi!

We're planning a Disneyland trip (my first in 9 years!) for October 10 and 11. I noticed on the Dland site that they're going to have expanded hours on Monday the 10th. Dland will be open 9am-10pm, while DCA will be open 10am-6pm. Why is this? Is there a convention going on that day or something?

We picked two weekdays in the off-season to get fewer crowds, so hopefully it'll be nice and nearly-empty.

    Thanks!

    - Matt

Columbus Day weekend. It's a three-day weekend for a lot of people.

Monday, October 10th is an official Federal and State holiday (think ALL school kids), there will be large crowds at the park that day.

Here is the link to the OFFICIAL Federal Government Holiday list (from the Office of Personal Management)

    http://www.opm.gov/fedhol/2005.asp

Federal law (5 U.S.C. 6103) establishes the following public holidays for Federal employees. Please note that most Federal employees work on a Monday through Friday schedule. For these employees, when a holiday falls on a nonworkday -- Saturday or Sunday -- the holiday usually is observed on Monday (if the holiday falls on Sunday) or Friday (if the holiday falls on Saturday).
And it shows Monday, October 10th, 2005 as a holiday for Columbus Day....

    The Markets will be closed...

    Most Banks will be closed...

My Girlfriend works for Orange County, and will get the day off as the offices will be closed.

The US Postal Service will close, and not deliver most mail.

If they are like my county, it is a Federal Holiday but not a State/City Holiday. Its the one day the Federal workers can go to the DMV and City Hall and have it not closed!

Yeah, I don't have the day off either. I have the 13th off for some reason, though.
