Digger's live (almost) 5-day TR!!! w/Practice Rally coverage

Hello and good day to all! We will be in Disneyland until Friday (5-1), so to change things up I decided to do a daily update of our last trip until fall. Today, Sunday, started off bright and early with the Practice Gumball Rally. Everyone met at the La Brea Bakery. I immediately smelled something a bit "fishy" about the situation....



Standing in line to register, we were approached by the man himself, so I had to get a photo of Regan with the fishiest of MiceChat celebrities. Not the greatest photo of my daughter, but you take what you can get......



Teams started to gather, mingle, and plot their strategies......







After a quick briefing...





We were released shortly before 8:00, only after waiting in a mini-line to get our race instructions.....



Our plan, scurry into the park and start riding rides. We'll just skip right into Disneyland and.....wait.....what the???





Okay, so the lines put a dent in our master plan to school all you MiceChatters on how a Rally is run. We tried to hit Indy and Jungle Cruise first, but Indy was closed. There was no line on Jungle Cruise.....



After a quick trip down the Nile, Indy was back up. Instead of jumping in line we grabbed some fastpasses, then we were off to Fantasyland. Clearly, Fantasyland was a popular place to be. Alice in particular revealed quite a few teams....





One competitor on Alice even gave us his best John Travolta/Saturday Night Fever move in a feeble attempt to intimidate us....



Stayin alive, stayin alive....sorry, burst into a little song looking at that photo. Anyway, we ran into more teams throughout Fantasyland. A "monster" startled the heck out of us by shouting "BOO" while we were in line for Pinocchio....



Just two hours into the competition, the other teams were focused....



Yet friendly....



My "way too hot for me" wife, and Regan, took a quick ride on Dumbo. I, remaining within Rally rules, did my best to remain a few arms lengths away....



After doing our best to hit everything in Fantasyland we wandered over to Pirates. Right behind us in line was another "first-timer" team, The Lost Girls. They were very nice and chatted us up while we waited in line.....



We then hit Haunted Mansion, Pirates Lair, Big Thunder Mountain, and Indy in the final hour of the competition. Then it was off to the noon meet to turn in our packet. The tension mounted as Dusty began to announce the winners...





And the winners are.....not us!?!?! Oh man, I demand a recount!!!! All in favor raise your hands...



Yeah, I thought so. In all seriousness, what a great half a day spent with some great people. I've been lurking around MiceChat for over a year, and finally got the chance today to put a personality with some of the faces I have seen online....and what personalities you all have!

I did a little video project at the noon meet (those of you who were involved, don't go spoiling the surprise), and I'll be posting that once we get back to Reno on Saturday.

Here is a bit more from Sunday: After the rally we headed back to give our 5 year old a nap. We made it back into the park around 8:00. We decided to take a group shot at the freakishly large and out of place envelope on Main Street...




Then we did some dinner at Blue Bayou. Of course, Regan had to take her usual "pirate" photo....




Our server was AWESOME! Her name is Tameka, and when she says she is going to take care of you, she is not kidding. She made sure the bread-meister made routine stops at our table...




She was also nice enough to score Regan a small plate of fruit while we waited for our dinner....




After dinner it was back to Fantasyland, with a small photo detour in front of the castle....




Someone is a monkey....



After a few rides in Fantasyland we wandered over to Pan. We got in line with about a minute or so until park closing. No one got in line behind us, so we were last on Pan for the night.....
