Trip planning help needed - Oct weekdays or weekend?

We are bringing Australian friends in Oct for their first Disney visit ever. We are planning to stay for 3 nights, either Mon-Wed Oct 5-7, or Sun-Tue Oct 4-6. We really want to make sure that our friends got to see the fireworks and Fantasmic, but unfortunately park hours are not published this far in advance. We need to make accomodation reservations ASAP because we want to use DVC points to book onsite.

I would like to know if anyone has prior experience about whether the fireworks and Fantasmic would be on for the Monday and Tuesday, or should we choose to at least be in the park on Sunday to ensure that we got to see these shows?

I definitely don't want them to miss the fireworks and Fantasmic! Thanks in advance!

Be there on a Sunday, absolutely. Though even that is not a 100% guarantee, but early October is usually fall break for a fair amount of schools, so probably.

That first weekend in October is also Gay Days, so it will be busy that weekend. I can't speak for Monday and Tuesday, but there should be Fantasmic and Fireworks on Sat and Sun.

I would do the Sun-Tues. The park will most likely only be open until 8:00pm Mon-Thurs, so you'd want to plan on being there on Sunday to catch the fireworks and Fantasmic.

Thanks everyone! We'll go for the Sun-Tue or maybe even looking into Sat-Mon. They arrive in LA on Saturday so I was thinking they could use one day of lighter activity to recover from jet lag, but maybe they'll just have to suck it up.
