Re: Any parts of rides still get you?

The hall of doors in the HM, with all the knockers tapping. That part for some reason is so creepy to me. Maybe playing to that childhood fear of mine about someone breaking into my home.

But, I love to get chills on rides like Pirates and the HM. It's part of the unique power of those attractions

You're not alone. Until I was about ten, Harold was the (secret) reason I wouldn't go on the Matterhorn. But now I do (when the line doesn't stretch around the mountain).

I'm told that when I was little, I was afraid of the Queen of Hearts in the 'Alice in Wonderland' dark ride. Now...not so much.

I will say this though, even after repeat rides, the drops on the Tower of Terror are both surprising and terrifying. The sensation of falling is so un-nerving to me. Considering that I don't mind rollercoasters (and the dropping sensation on those), I'm always surprised at how scary ToT is.

I also love the caverns in Pirates of the Carribean. Not scary, but definitely engaging, the way the music, lighting, humidity and even temperature all change rapidly. I always feel transported.

The lead-up to the drop on Splash Mountain.

You know what also scares me, the "spike room" in the line for Indy, when you can shake the bamboo pole and the ceiling comes down just a bit. I ALWAYS get caught off guard and every time I go in that room, my heart starts to pound. Even when you shake it, it takes awhile to come down and it makes that really loud noise.

Also, I agree with Scary Scott that the sea monster in the old submarine was scary. It used to scare the beejeezus outta me!

I'd say the only thing that "gets me" anymore is the swinging cars on (now) Mickey's Fun Wheel - but really only when the side of the wheel I'm on is heading down, and then the car swings down. It feels like you are going to be flipped out into the water. lol

    I love it though.

Nothing too much anymore, but I was terrified of the Haunted Mansion when I was a kid. I spent the entire ride with my face buried into my mom and my fingers plugged in my ears. I was that scared. The ride is still a bit spooky to me but in an enjoyable sort of way.

I still cover my eyes in anticipation when I see the red eyes on Matterhorn. After that, I'm fine.

Btw, Wavy Blue, I LOVE your picture!!! I've always found that part funny, and confusing with his end face Classic.

The queue area of the Haunted Mansion. Due to the dark forbidding hallways and the ghastly busts that follow you. The lightning with the flickering candles.
