The Hyperion re-do should have never been cut from Phase 1. It remains one of the biggest (maybe THE biggest) visual blunders of DCA 1.0. I really wish they would invest the money to re-do the outside and inside of this facility - even if its all they do to HPB for now. A new show installation could be part of the renovation. Possibly have the theater close in Spring 2012 after CarsLand opens. Then it could reopen in the Spring of 2013 as the big new "attraction" for that summer with some cool blockbuster new show debuting inside. Just my idea of how to market the renovation and take advantage of the re-investment.

As for the parade route, I say just don't do a parade for a year or 2 while all the construction is happening. Seems the easiest solution.

I hadn't really thought about it, but I guess these types of removals have to be done at all one time. We wouldn't want to see a Dino body with no head.

Details: Sunglass store scheduled to close permanently May 26, 2009. The retail location will be removed completely.
Project Status: Store closed May 26, 2009, construction walls went up May 27. Demolition begins June 29.

I guess I never really understood the hate for the Dino.

While I agree that the whole Route 66 theme never really seemed fully fleshed out, I totally understood the "road side attraction" idea. There used to be dinosaurs on highway 17 in Scotts Valley on the way into Santa Cruz. Just passing them on the highway was always one of the the things my sisters and I looked forward to as kids.

Indeed, they started earlier than I had been told about. The original post has been updated.
