Flash Mountain on News of the Weird

So i was listening to my local Portland, Oregon radio station, and they have a segment called "News of the Weird", that it about mostly odd facts. So before the commercial break they mentioned something about Disneyland, so i had to figure out what they were going to talk about.

In their segment, they started talking about Disney relocating the crew members that monitered pictures. I thought it was very interesting that the news of that is getting shown nationally now.

I think Disney is going to get a lot of criticism for it, on a larger scale than i maybe thought before.

This come to a surprise for anyone that its gone national? I know there is another post on this, i just thought it was interesting.

I'm guessing that people from across North America check out micechat and read Al Lutz's column. So, it's pretty much national already.

Or maybe the guy the reported the news views Micechat often.

I just hope, this once, that this blows up in their faces, and see what a stupid decision this was.

Oh it will - the only question being how fast. And since word has gotten around the world that it's now Open Season at Flash Mountain again, I bet it won't take long at all.

They don't even need to refuse to print the picture for you at Owl Photo. As soon as it goes up on the Unload monitors people will take a digital picture of the monitor, and the deed is done.

The only reason it has NOT been a problem these last few decades is that everybody knew they were monitoring the cameras and "washing away" the photos - and they had plenty of time for Security to meet you at Unload, and they eject people from the park for serious or repeated violations.

I'm having trouble understanding the logic here. Wouldn't it be nice if it didn'tblow up in their faces, thus proving that it wasn't a stupid decision in the first place? Don't get me wrong...I think it was stupid, and it will blow up, at least to a certain degree. But I'd much rather see that prediction proven wrong!

It was also reported (rather humorously) on NPR's "Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me" program this morning.

We should start new threads: "Post your Flash Mountain Photos Here" and "The Flash Mountain Photoshop Competition"

Re: Flash Mountain on News of the Weird

The story has legs because of its underlying theme: immensely wealthy entertainment giant, trusted for generations, can't afford to guard its kid and family audience against indecent exposure. The story arc is "world's most trusted purveyor of G-Rated family entertainment lays off employees who protect Disneyland customers against indecency."

From any angle it's got headline value. "Disney budget cuts turn Splash Mountain into Flash Mountain." "Br'er Bosoms latest Disneyland attraction."

What we're seeing in the national press is just the warmup. This is nothing, wait'll Disney PR gets in the act!
"With the acquisition of Marvel and now of Lucasfilm,
Disney may have finally found the grail. You don't need
imagination or art. All you need is a brand."
