very interesting. hungry bear had a vermin violation. makes you wonder - i worked at mexican restaraunt (Chevy's type place) way back when and you would be amazed at what goes on in a restaraunt kitchen
Maybe construction around the resort has "flushed" them out into other areas where they are more noticeable.
Last winter when a strong wind storm knocked our fence down, a mouse (at least one, they're usually not alone ) moved into our kitchen when the construction crew came in to repair the fence. It (they) was apparently driven out by all of the 'human" activity trampling the vegetation (in my neighbor's yard) where they lived.
We managed to poison one of the little buggers ........

I not sure about the situation with southern California, but up north (Stockton/Sacramento area), there has been an explosion in the rodent population the last couple months (voles especially, but also mice, and rats).
