In What Way Might The New "Tomorrowland" Movie Affect The Namesake?

Have a gander at this article / interview discussing plans for the new Tomorrowland film.

Although a general overhaul of Tomorrowland is needed and imminent, could there be a plan shaping that involves yet another unneeded movie starring the Rock?

I really hope not. I give them more credit than that. But still...

I believe the movie "Tomorrowland" won't be related to the actual land itself, but I could be wrong.

The movie sounds interesting... I am a little concerned that it is labeled as "Pirate in Space". I have no idea how it will relate to Tomorrowland the location. I would hope that it would encourage Disney to do a general update of the location WITHOUT a franchise tie-in but I don't know.

Still murky as to whether the film is intended for a boxoffice release or a Disney theme park attraction (as I predicted in my thread last week, when I introduced this topic). We won't know until Disney itself officially weighs in. Nice work fleshing out this article, Zoe.

I'm wondering if Dwaine and Johnny will end up teaming up in a film titled, Rock "n" Johnny's Lair At Space Pirate Island.

Re: In What Way Might The New "Tomorrowland" Movie Affect The Namesake?

PLEASE NO! It will have nothing to do with the land itself and it will just be cheesy. I really like some sci-fi films but the truth is that the majority of people do not. I don't think it can be a success like PotC at all because only "nerds" (Don't be offended. I'm one too.) will enjoy the movie.
However I could be very wrong... Disney has revived the Pirate era of film and maybe they can make science fiction popular too!
P.S. It could be interesting if they make movies based on other lands because didn't a "not so family friendly" movie just come out entitled "Adventureland"?

J.J. Abrams would beg to differ.

Abrams has re-immagined sci-fi in such a way that the universe is bursting with fans. and with coolness once again.

Re: In What Way Might The New "Tomorrowland" Movie Affect The Namesake?

What's up with Disney's love affair with deadpan middlebrow actors i.e.: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Vin Diesel, and Nick Cage. They should do themselves a favor and actually get some interesting talent.

I think the idea of basing a movie on an entire land seems to be the next logical step following the success of POTC. I'm just baffled by the constant attention the "Rock" is getting from Disney.

And it was distributed by Miramax Films, which is part of the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group.
