    Strange and Hilarious DLRR photo

    Burtin+family+1987.jpg (image)

    Found this on sexypeople-blog.com
I'm wondering if anyone here knows the circumstances of this photo opportunity, or remembers its existence? It's dated 1987 on the blog.

I remember the studio where you could get those portraits done was on Main Street...My family and I had one done mid-80's or so.

Yeah, I heard about this - they had different scenes and backdrops where you could have a portrait taken, and they provided the costumes and everything.

Why did they get rid of that? They could charge hand over fist for portraits these days. Everyone else does...

    The father's mustache is awesome.

Took a second look at the photo, and noticed that's Cinderella Castle on the DLRR seal there.

Maybe the Disney Parks campaign has been going on longer than we've thought?

I have one of me as a kid in a western from that old studio. They ought to bring it back. I know they have the star wars one in star trader still to 'shop your faces into something but you got to dress up for this thing.

The only one I know of was the one on Main Street in the '90s where you could get a picture in front of a screen and they would edit it so that you were like with Alice in a Mad Tea Party or with Bambi and friends. It was really cool.

Actually, it is not Cinderella Castle. It is just an elongated representation of Sleeping Beauty Castle.

    Correct.

The stylized castle was one of the first incarnations of the DRR logo post-SF&DRR.

You can tell by the shape of the roof of the middle section of th castle; Sleeping Beauty's is pointed, Cinderella's has a squarish top.

There is a thread going right now about this very thing. It would definitely be awesome if they brought back the photo studio!
