TimmyTimmyTimmy has a little shameless behaviour in the past
What is/will be/should be the symbol for DCA?

DisneySEA has the volcano, Epcot has the spaceship and Walt Disney Studios Park has the Earfel Tower... but how about DCA?
It has alot of "signs" that should/could be used more when picturing the park. After the changes in the park, will grizzly mountain still be it?

Perhaps Mickey's image will be the new DCA symbol? It's being used as the new symbol for Paradise Pier already.

^Wrong. That is Paradise Pier's icon.

I think DCA's icon will be Carthay Theater. That or Carthay Theater with Grizzly Peak in the background. Eitherway, Grizzly Peak is currently the parks icon but Carthay will soon take over.

Re: What is/will be/should be the symbol for DCA?

Carthay Theater is what they hope to be the DCA icon, but I wonder if people will immediately think of DCA when they see it.

To me, the Grizzly Peak has always been the more unique icon for DCA, and it's what should have been placed in the middle of the park.

Imagine greeting the Grizzly Peak as the one thing you see as you enter. And then imagine if they had little walkways throughout the mountain with waterfalls inside of it. How majestic and beautiful that would be. Celebrating CA should mostly be about the natural wonders of the state. The people should come after that.

Cool Re: What is/will be/should be the symbol for DCA?

Interesting idea for Grizzly Bear. I think that it is the icon, but Coheteboy's idea is pure genius.

Re: What is/will be/should be the symbol for DCA?

I think they should use the Fun Wheel as the icon for DCA. The Ferris Wheel captures the sort of California nostalgia the park is centered around, but the Mickey would be the reminder that it's Disney's. Plus, being in the back of DCA, the Fun Wheel could be the draw that brings guests all the way to the back of the park.

Imagine, as the new symbol for the resort, Sleeping Beauty Castle overlapping Mickey's Fun Wheel, sort of like the Tokyo Disneyland Resort now:

However, if they can popularize the Carthay theater as the icon for DCA, I will be immensely satisfied.

Re: What is/will be/should be the symbol for DCA?

Honestly I would want it to be Girzzly. I realize that the Theater holds a special place in Disney history... but mining in general is what put California on the map. What annoys me though is that Grizzly doesn't bother to capitalize on this fact. WDI spent a lot of time and money to bring in all this historic mining equipment... then ruins the theme with a modern tour overlay.

If they would take a historic "closed 49er Mine" type approach I'd be in full support of that being the DCA icon. This is of course assuming they even keep the California theme.

What's with black thing above Mickey's eyes? It looks like a really long unibrow.

Re: What is/will be/should be the symbol for DCA?

Grizzly peak looks too much like a howling wolf. If this question would have been asked in the first year I'd say an image of a penny being squeezed so hard it screams. Today - I don't know what works as there are so many things in transition.

"Disneyland" works on its own but there has always been a problem with the name Disney California Adventure (hence the term DCA for short) and there isn't any image with the same universal appeal that the castle has. The above Mickey image is better than that bear/wolf thing...

Re: What is/will be/should be the symbol for DCA?

funny how everyone gets upset that "Pixar" is taking over the parks yet it is owned by Disney. hahaha :shrug:

I don't really know what should be the icon. Grizzly is a good one, but you will be walking to the Carthay to get to the other lands of the park. Kind of like you walk to the castle to get to the other lands of the park, but you can still see the Matterhorn almost anywhere you are.

Carthay = Sleeping Beauty Castle
Grizzly = Matterhorn

Carthay (SBC) will be the main icon, but Grizzly (Matterhorn) will be a popular one.
