    Exclamation 2009 Disneyland Half-Marathon Weekend!

Amidst the annual Gumball Rally, I find it appropriate to mention another scramble of sorts. Ninety-three days from today (6/2/2009) we will again be given the opportunity to run without being told to slow down, through DCA, the DLR and surrounding areas. Originally designated as a day off for the working citizens of United States, this Labor Day is a chance to stretch your legs and see the park in a different way. Whether you do it for the quick glimpse of backstage areas, the opportunity to high-five middle school band members at mile ten, or for your love of perspiration, all that matters is that you’re there.

There, is Disneyland on Labor Day Weekend. The event is a fun-filled 13.1 mile race testing physical limits while at the same time providing a great atmosphere; engineered for personal record potential. I missed the maiden voyage in 2006 as I was still in college, but was in attendance in 07 and 08 and had a ball.

Check out the below URL and get yourself signed up for the race! 80-percent capacity right now means that spaces are filling up quickly. Don’t forget that if you are a runner of speeds faster than a 2:45 half, proof of time is required for your corral position.

I'm going to do this next year, I'm getting married at the end of September this coming year so I won't be able to participate. I'm doing another half marathon in August but wish I could have done the Disney one!

    Re: 2009 Disneyland Half-Marathon Weekend!

I'm signed up, making it my first half marathon after Disney was my first 5k last year. Plus, I've managed to convince my wife and two of my friends to run with me after the great experience I had last year. My endurance is built up to the point where I'm happy with my time (easily fast enough to not be in the last corral, but no way to prove it- oh well, next year). I can't wait!

Newby question. Do they put slower ppl in the first corral's or the faster people? Both make sense to me.

Slower in front to give them more time to run
Faster in front so the slower people don't block the faseter

    Re: 2009 Disneyland Half-Marathon Weekend!

The faster runners are put in the front corrals. I've got to say, nobody hosts a marathon quite like Disney. Running through the parks is lots of fun; last year they had characters throughout the parks and some of the POD floats set up along the route and many employees were lined up cheering us on. Even outside the park, there was never a moment when we weren't being cheered on by various youth groups from Anaheim and the surrounding community. Even folks who live along Ball Road set up lawn chairs and cheered. There were marching bands, girl scouts, boy scouts, cheerleaders--really very cool. When we got to the Anaheim Stadium parking lot, I was feeling pretty drained and wanted to stop and walk, but at just that moment, a little Brownie girl scout shouted my name (your first name is printed along with your number that you pin to your shirt), so naturally I kept going. I give credit to that little girl for my respectable (for a 51 year old beginner) 2 hour and 17 minute finish.
