Re: Data's Birthday TR

Thanks, MickeyMousePal! It was a really fun day - I was thrilled to get to meet you and the others.

And yep, it's there, Goover! Check it out next time you're in the park! It only takes a few minutes...nothing extraordinarily interesting, but pretty cool nonetheless. When it comes to theme parks, I have an insatiable desire to see what's around the corner, behind the door, over the wall, behind the curtain, etc., and HM had me really curious what was on the right side of the house for a long time. You just never see it unless you specifically ask to go back there!

You guys weren't technically supposed to walk back there, unless you had permission, a CM girl read my party the riot act for going over there and taking pics!..Data--where is the chicken exit on HM? After you come out of the stretching rooms to the left? I am going to have to go through there next time.

Oh no, we got permission to go on the side of the house. He's not in the pics, but a CM led us back there. We're not THAT bad :oD

Re: Data's Birthday TR

No worries, GregC - Justin is correct. There was a CM with us the entire time. I would never sneak back there without permission. [ EDIT: Ah, I see you've responded anyway. ] As for the chicken exit (which is a little more of a gray area than the pet cemetery), it is indeed to your left after the stretching gallery - see this post of mine from page 4.

EDIT: As for naughty things one could do while unchaperoned in the pet cemetery...it'd seem pretty tough to go up the berm at first blush, as it's quite steep, and the brick retaining wall is not short. But come to think of it, there is an area on the far side of the lawn where the wall gets shorter and shorter, and the berm is less steep. I suppose it'd be doable. BUT DON'T DO IT! It'd also be possible to get into a few of their storage areas and perhaps even to jump down into an emergency exit near the main exit. But that's only in my wildest dreams...I would never do that in real life, nor condone someone else doing it.

Heck, you could run across the lawn, past the trees, and jump down into the Splash Mountain flume below, too...that's the spot right before you turn into the finale scene. You'd probably break both of your legs, though...it's quite a drop! Again, don't do it.

You should create a virtual Joe for your model and do a frame by frame animation!

Re: Data's Birthday TR

Data, care to explain your UCLA -> Disneyland public transit journey? When I took public transit to the resort, I took Metro Rapid route 902 to the Wilshire and Western Red Line (Underground Metro), and ended up at Union Station.

Then, I took Amtrak to Anaheim Station, and used ART to get to the DLR. Total time took 1.5 - 2 hours, but it set me back close to $30 roundtrip.

This is mostly just out of curiosity, since I graduate next weekend and move back closer to the resort.

Re: Data's Birthday TR

That's right, you're graduating, Amir! I forgot about that. Congrats in advance!

As to how I got there, I basically followed the directions on Disney's site. This is a relatively new way for me...I'd only done it once before. I used to take the FlyAway to LAX, then the Disneyland Resort Express (Gray Line) directly to the resort. That'd usually take me two hours or so, perhaps a little more, plus 20-30 minutes of walking to the FlyAway station. Sometimes I'd do SuperShuttle or Prime Time Shuttle on the way back from LAX at the end of the day so that I could leave later and not have to do even more walking through Westwood in the dark. I believe this was costing me, like, $40 or more.

What I do now takes about three hours (plus 20-30 minutes of walking) and costs more like $25 round trip, or $15 if I take FlyAway at the end of the day. What I do is this:

* Walk to the Westwood FlyAway station. (25 minutes)
* Take the FlyAway to LAX. ($5, 15-40 minutes)
* Take the G shuttle to the Metro Aviation Station. (free, 10 minutes)
* Take the Metro Rail green line train to Norwalk Station. ($1.25, maybe a half hour)
* Take the Metro 460 bus to Disneyland - the bus stop is on Harbor, just north of the walkway toward the esplanade. ($1.25, perhaps 45 minutes)

I'm really not sure about those last two times, but from boarding the FlyAway to getting off the 460 seems to pretty consistently take around 3 hours total. The reverse route is exactly the same, except I often do a shuttle from LAX to UCLA, like I said. FlyAway stops leaving LAX at 11, and it's nice to minimize walking at the end of the day anyway.

Re: Data's Birthday TR

overall it was a cool day, and it was interesting to see the "hidden" pet cemetary. The CM was friendly too.

I asked a CM this once ("Excuse me, is there a Pet Cemetery back there?"), and the response I got was "Nope, it's just a walk way for CMS."

Ohh... uhhhh, thanks? ::trods off::

Re: Data's Birthday TR

That stinks! Yeah, next time, don't ask if there's a pet cemetery - I can assure you, there is. Just ask if you can see it directly.
