Disney Resort Annual Pass & Birthday Card

My apologies if this has already been posted, but I haven't seen it mentioned.

Got my annual passport renewal in the mail. I also have my birthday card from Disneyland that gives me $69 to spend anywhere. So I want to use the birthday card for money off my $369 renewal fee.

I went to the Disneyland bank to ask how do I use my birthday card with my statement I received in the mail from the Disneyland Resort. According to the guy at the window I had to come to DLand and renew there...it would not work to simply place the gift card with a check for $300 in the mail.

So I renewed at the bank with the gift card in hand. He took $69 off my price of $369, making a total of $300.

Its a pain to have to go there when mailing it in is so simple, but I guess the resort did not plan for what to do with the gift cards.

It's probably not that simple, the CMs have to scan, or swipe, the card in order it to be used. Who knows if the gift card was good, or not usable.

Why is it a pain, you are going to the park anyways????

They also honored your renewal discount....

I always renew at the park, since I always get Disney Dollars for Xmas!

I only hate that I can't get my 20% off coupon and the pick of my pass pic.

Its easier to simply mail in my payment and have the resort send us our cards.

I am posting in case any one else runs in to this scenario and wonders.

Interesting though - as I presented my scenario to the guy at the desk - he says to me and the woman controlling which window to go to, "this one is going to take a bit longer". That statement didn't settle with me and made it feel like why didn't I just not bother him, that I should mail it in and spend my card somewhere else.

Anyhoo, there is no new picture taken (mine is bad too) and I spent a few extra minutes dealing with a teller that just wanted to be done with his work shift.

I've never seen a gift card that you could redeem by mailing it in. Using it online, yes. In person, absolutely. But not just put it in an envelope. And I know there are some restrictions on the birthday fun card and its use.

It's a birthday present...isn't it worth a trip to the park?
